Well, it's here. Apple unveiled its new toy today, the iPad. [Live coverage on Guardian UK] Will it give the Kindle a run for the money? Will it be superior, or just more expensive?

How many people are thinking of getting one? If you get to try it out (jealous) post comments here!

It looks really cool, as expected, the readability looks amazing. And it also looks more fragile than the Kindle. And would you take it on the bus with you? How long before it's stolen...?

Actually I think Brent Spiner also pointed out this week that Captain Picard on STTNG used something very similar. Star Trek, always predicting the future!

Considering my budget as of late, I'm going to take an elongated wait-and-see approach (ie. wait for the roommate to get one and see how it is) before making the ultimate decision to get one. Though the battery + portability sure are niceeeee...
