Maples?! Wasn't she a blonde? (Alright, that hasn't been confirmed, but for the moment, it'll have to do.)
I'm thinking of going as .....actually, I haven't decided yet...oh well, I have a couple of weeks left. |

Google for it.
But if you must know, she was briefly married to or a former beau (at the very least)of "The Donald". |

Nyah. I say Cosplayer is talking about Marla from Fight Club. >:P
Girl, aren't you only 14? Man...I must be getting old when the idea of a 14 year old in today's society dressing up as Marla from Fight Club seems strange. >:P |

| I thought she was talking about Marla from Fight Club too. Since we are in the subject of Halloween I have a questions. My bar is going to do a theme that weekend. So far the only thing that anyone has come up with is "Hunter and Prey" men dress as hunters and women as prey. I think this is stupid and I refuse to come as "Prey" for men. First of all I work in a bar already so I often already fall prey to disgusting men. If they keep this stupid idea I am going to go as a bunny (prey) but it's going to be a bunny with a ninja sword or machine gun or something although my boss said I can't carry a weapon that looks real... idiot. Anyhow the only alternative to this STUPID idea that I had was Heaven and Hell, Freaks and Geeks, Protagonists and Antagonists. Can anyone think of any other "blank AND blank" ideas for my job? |

That's clever but utterly offensive!
Control and Chaos? Art and Science? Nature and Nuture (a bit abstract....)? East and West (pretty open to interpretation)? Virtue and Vice? Madonna and Whore? TV and Movies?
Okay, I got nothing.
Bunny with ninja swords is cool. Just say "you think this is real looking?" and give him a dirty look. |

Good for you! You can always thumb your nose at authority and come as a scavenger. Wherever (in the wild) there are hunters and prey, there are also scavengers. Vultures and hyenas come to mind. Some naturalists think that lions actually do a lot of scavenging to survive.
Also, you can subvert the definition of hunter/prey by going as a giant squid (Architeuthis). To sperm whales they are prey, but to fish and crustaceans they are vicious, merciless hunters. Here are some pictures, so you can start working on the costume. |

I once was a pra(e)ying mantis for holloween. Actually my hand puppet praying mantis was the costume, I (the rest of the body) was his habitat-- a treestump and foliage. Dang I wish I had taken photos.
Everyone loved my mantis! My hand got more action that night then the rest of my body had in months.
.... wait... I didn't mean for it to sound like that.

I'm just trying to fill the emptiness left by the departure of IronS. Her delicate sensibilites were probably offended by something someone said, which made her switch to Netflix... :-(

OK, you're on my friends list! So here's my advice. Get lots of that thin white packing foam that comes in sheets or rolls. These are examples. Here's another picture.
You roll these into a giant tube shape, and cut out a hole for your face. Glue a triangular piece, or two triangular pieces, to the top end to form the "fins". Then all you have to do is use the same material (or some other kind of white tubing) to make tentacles! And don't forget, the giant squid has eyes the size of volleyballs!
This will be kinda sexy, too, if you don't wear anything underneath, because the white foam is kinda see-through. Don't worry about being cold, because the foam has an insulating effect. In fact, if your bar is hot, you might have to have guys spray you with seltzer to cool you off. Just stay the heck away from those sperm whales, because they'll think you're calamari.

Wow. Here's the difference between shiori and me. I see pooja post and I think "wow, pooja's so funny! I hope we can be friends" and then spend a month trying to subtly come up with a way to become friends.
It never occured to me to just ask!
No wonder when she asked me to meet her in the Romance thread, I was so thick I didn't even know it was an invitation!
I am liking that squid idea.
How about "crime" and "punishment"? Poetry and motion? Thought and passion? Hmm, the more I think, the worse I get.

How about Spaghetti and Fnord (either you represent Flying Spaghetti Monsterism or Discordianism). |

Yup, you all are definitely getting worse at this. I kind of like the crime and punishment thing because that is very versatile. you can go as a bank robber, a jail mate, or a dominatrix... A to Z.
I get to go to the Nine Inch Nails concert in San Antonio on the sixteenth. I'm going to dress up in fishnet and black boots and all that other overpriced stuff I can find at Hot Topic and where black make-up and stuff, it'll be just like halloween. I think I'm going to chop my hair off and dye it some crazy color too since I have a job where I can get away with it now. Punk for month... I'm starting to like that idea, then people will stop calling me "cute" in that baby voice/ pinch your cheeks sort of way (not the buttcheeks btw) they will just think I'm a creepy Goth chick who would eat them if it were legal.

Never had the nerve to pinch their buttcheeks though, but for you I could make an exception. So you may want to think twice about this.
I guess I should come up with something to be for holloween. The best costume I ever saw was woman who dressed as "Shirley Temple, the Youngest, Most Sacred Monster of the Cinema in Her Time" and her boyfriend dressed as Salvidor Dali. (He was mistaken as Tex Avery's cartoon amorous wolf by more than one person at work).
Hmmm, maybe your theme could be Art and Capitalism. |
