Four Directors, Twelve Films
Standard rules apply
Yes or no questions only.
One question at a time per person.
Wait until the host answers your question before asking another.
The object of this game is to name four directors, one at a time. After you guess the name of each director, you must guess the titles of a trilogy of films by that director, and so on and so forth.
Whoever has the most correct answers (of titles and directors combined), wins a round trip ticket to Vas Legas in the beautiful Carpathian mountains, and gets to host the next game (whether they like it or not). |

| I haven't seen any of those documentary films, but for the animated features I think it'll be a close call between the Wallace&Gromit film and Howl's Moving Castle, don't you think? Surely Madagascar will not win... it was amusing enough, but... |

| Wouldn't it be funny if March of the Penguins and Madagascar both win? We'll be treated to a double dose of our tuxedoed friends from Antarctica waddling up to accept the awards! |

| Sorry Uncle... I was just trying to sow some seeds of confusion so that I could take better advantage of my early lead. Are all the directors male? |

Were they all born in the Northern Hemisphere?
I wonder if IronS is headed for the midnight showing of the new Harry Potter film? I seem to recall there was a Harry Potter thread somewhere on these boards. |

BUZZ!
Compound questions will get us nowhere!
Try asking again, only next time ask: is one of the directors is from... |

Sounds like a "yes" or "no" non-compound question to me!
> Try asking again, only next time ask: is one of the directors is from...
Ooookay.... is one of the directors is from North America whilst is another of the directors is from Europe and is a third is from Asia is? Hmm... somehow that sounds more complicated... But it's the same "yes/no" question, only in the format preferred by Uncle! |

Ah... I think Uncle wants us to do one director at a time, rather than ask blanket questions about all four of them...
How about, "Is one of the directors American?"
Kenneth Turan says the new Harry Potter film is the first to do the books justice! Maybe I'll go see it. |

It's not, think again!
A simple yes or no question yeilds a simple yes or no answer.

Oh, you finally read post # 1! Brava!

Eoliano, I know you dislike when I ask questions about the rules and then accuse my of asking compound questions but are we supposed to guess one director at a time or are we supposed to guess directors all at once?
What I mean is suppose your four directors are Homer Simpson, Apu Nahasaphadium, Moe Slyznak, and Seymour Skinner. Should I be asking "Is one bald" (yes, Homer is), "is one Hindi" (yes, Apu is). Or should I be asking "is he bald" (yes, Homer is), "is he Hindi" (no, Homer isn't).
Anyhow, I am going to ask if one is Stanley Kubrick? |

Sigh. Believe it or not, Eoliano, I am *not* going out of my way to nitpick or be confusing or to ask compound questions but when we are asking single questions for multiple directors compound questions and multiple interpretations of are almost inevitable.
The above example could, and most correctly and logically mean, "None of the directors are American/all are non-american" but it could also literally mean "At least one (but no more can be determined) of the directors is non-american". Also depending on the order of the guessing, it could mean "The first director isn't american". I'm truly *not* trying to quibble but I am confused as to the rules. Could you please clarify.
Hmm, I'm under the impression Kubrick was British... I'd better look that up.

No it's not! But the deadline is Sunday, after that I will be too busy! Also, I will be away part of the day, today.

Bronx, New York is not in Britain.
Now ask a question!
> Is one of the directors Japanese?
Yes! |
