Well, if no-one else is going to wish you all the best, allow me. I hope you all have a lovely and restful holiday with loved ones and/or good company.
Merry Christmas, and Good first night of Channukah! And to all a goodnight. Yo Saturnalia! |

Back at you, wooz, and to us all, every one.
I've been lurking quite a bit here in these discussion groups lately, what with a major move and trying to settle in to a new job, but generally I really don't know enough about cinema to feel I can make a worthwhile contribution. But believe me, reading everyone's comments has been quite the learning experience.
This, however, I can do. A Healthy and Happy New Year to all: may your wallet and your rental queue be full of green.

Ah, didn't know about that thread.
You're dressed in winter finery, I see. Very festive, IronS.

I'm probably a lot more innocent than I come across. (... but if you insist on seeing me as naughty, .... well, just what *is* that ant doing to the bee...) But I'm really very innocent in real life.
How'd your semester go, shiori?

---What is that ant doing to that bee? I think I need a larger picture to look at.
> How'd your semester go, shiori?
---Let me put it this way:
The letter "A": $3,200 The letter "B": $2,455 One Piece of Paper: $100 Paying Inflated College Fees Just So You Can Get Paper With Letters on It: PRICELESS!!
My Semester: Japanese- A Foundations of Communication- A Conduct Communication Inquiry- B

Well let me rant and rave a bit... this week I worked Monday night from 9 pm-6 am then on Tuesday I worked from 1 pm to 4 am then on wednesday I worked 2 pm to 2 am then on thursday I worked from 10 am to 6 pm then that night I went on saw Memoirs of a Geisha (which I thought was not as bad as everybody sad it was fairly consistent with the book) but I stayed up until six in the morning with two of my friends talking at IHOP about the movie and whatnot which makes me an idiot because I worked from 12 pm to 4:30 am on Friday (yes that's sixteen and a half hours) and then I worked at 5 pm to 3 am last night. I truly hate my boss because I have this problem about saying no to things and he makes me do all this stupid stuff and it's not worth losing the sleep over. The good news is thought that I made four hundred dollars that will go to UTSA tomorrow as soon as the banks open.
I apologize for the ranting and the raving but I am done now. How was your New Year's woozy?

> I apologize for the ranting and the raving but I am done now. How was your New Year's woozy? > Bleah... 'bout average really. Went to the local low key pub which had a pretty low key local jazz quartet. I went alone and arrived kinda late (11:15), stood for a long time in line to get an anchor steam, nursed it and looked around the crowd and felt sorry for myself for being social-phobic. Found a a support beam by the dart players where I could stand out of foot traffic and not feel too out of place. Went back to the main bar for the count down and a flat glass of sweet champaigne. Soon as it was new years I left. A group of 20-something women left at the same time. I debated telling one of them I liked her Dali Elephant tatoo she had on her shoulder but I chickened out. Then I went home and watched The Wire till I fell asleep.
I chose to consider it a social phobia exercise. The sad thing is its the exact same thing I did for New Years of 2004 and I remembered thinking it was almost tolerable then and I really ought to spend all 2004 going to the pub regularly so that my face would be known and I'd know the others so that new years 2005 in the same place would be better. (BTW, I spent New Years 2005 grinding my teeth in sheer anger on an air mattress in pouring rain in Hawaii utterly despising my aunt and worrying about my dying cat thousands of mile away).
Maybe I ought to spend 2006 getting to know that pub better. Trouble is I utterly hate going to bars alone and I don't know anyone in Berkeley. |

Perhaps this and your social phobia are something you should address in your New Years Resolution? |

Getting organized. Stop procrastinating. work harder. get a better handle on social phobia (this is perenial). worry less about physical fitness but eat more vegitables more frequently. kiss more girls.
That sort of stuff.

Woozy, why don't you add "Watch a Bollywood film with my Dad" to your list!
My resolution will be "Never catch the FLU over New Year's Weekend EVER AGAIN!!" I'm finally feeling a bit better... my muscles still feel like I was just put through boot camp then thrown off a moving train or something. My appetite's finally back, though, so I'm going to have some ice cream then go back to bed. I don't know if I can get anything else down my sore throat. HAPPY NEW YEARS!! Get your flu shots! |
