Don't you all think that "live" chat would be a welcome addition to greencine's discussions. That way instead of posting serial messages for half the day, we can all get instant gratification for the whole day....

You're all alive? I thought I was talking with a machine...

Yes. If only life were this fair and or simple.

Sadly it is not, unless you happen to be hog-nasty rich.

Damn! Caught again! Yes, we all are machines cleverly programmed by the greencine staff to make it appear as though greencine has active members. Those little green envelopes we all receive in the mail (occassionally) are only mental and optical illusions instilled in us by subtle hypnotic suggestions implanted within this website to bilk us of any sense of reality we may have had as well as our money, credit card numbers, etc.

I dunno. If no-one wants to talk to you or is online when you are that can be pretty humiliating.

I don't mind waiting all day for my instant gratification.

The weird thing is GreenCine Staffers are also machines, so who programmed us is the question? Is there a higher power? Is there meaning? I... >>poof!<<

Seriously, it's a fine idea. We may start doing some third party things here and elsewhere and if anyone has any suggestions for ways to get a GreenCine chat started that wouldn't require a major redesign of our site, please feel free to chime in. Thanks for the idea.

And now, I must shut down to rest my processors. >>boop<<

(humming "you can't always get what you want...")

If you wanna gratify yourself all day, the results will not be anything we want to see. Participation would require teledildonics, not chat, anyway.

Go watch Brave New World, and think about Soma.
Alternatively, listen to Existential Blues, and consider the

of the field...

I don't know about working chat into the standard interface... that would be difficult. way beyond my expertise.
But it would be pretty easy to set up a GC chat room in IRC. a savvy user could maybe set up a bot that could execute searches in the GC movie database (don't look at me, I'm only just experimenting with bots and I have yet to make one that works right).
But creating and managing a channel is pretty easy. If you can get a few staffers and users to work together to moderate it you can make a pretty user-friendly environment.

As for clients, I recommend mIRC UPP, but Firefox also has an extension for IRC called ChatZilla.
There's a bit of a learning curve when you get into some more advanced features, but for just getting in and chatting it can be pretty easy.

have you ever felt that it's someone else
living your life?
the image of you only better, it's true
at the outside, at the outside, at the outside, at the outside...

is there nothing i've done
that was truly begun by the real me?
have i stood to the side aware of the tide
that drags... me... out to the sea....
