Just for gits and shiggles:
1) The following roles: Ted Bundy, James Bond, Dr. Liam Neesam, Nayland Smith, Jean Picard, Steve Drexel, Sherlock Holmes, Morgan Edge, Blake Edwards, and Doctor Who
were all played by actors who had what role in common?
2) If the above is too easy or too hard, this next one will be harder or easier:
Leo Bloom, Sweeney Todd were played by two actors who both had what role in common?
3) And just because this leads to such interesting results here's an interesting third. Same thing: a bunch of different roles which were played by different actors who all played one role in common; guess the role.
Prospero, Roger O. Thornhill, Frank Zappa, Cosmo Brown, and the Artful Dodger.

I think I have number 3.
A couple roles I have not figured out, but from Roger Thornhill and Frank Zappa (??!!) I found a common role between Cary Grant and Ringo Starr.
Am I on the right track? |

Yes you are.
Roger O. Thornhill was the name of Cary Grant's character in North by Northwest. Without the middle initial there were also Dave Bauer in Kerst, William Devane in Race to Space, and Richard Roat in Holmes and Yo-yo(?????).
Ringo Starr played Frank Zappa in Frank Zappa's 200 hotels. Surprisingly Ringo is not the only one to play Zappa. Zappa was also played by Griffin Dunne and Adam Tomei.
If you found a role played by both Ringo Starr and Cary Grant, you may as well state it. (So far as I know there is only one such role but you never know...) |

Wait, I also knew about Prospero - John Gielgud. But I still don't know which guy played the Artful Dodger or Cosmo Brown.
The Mock Turtle
That reminds me of that movie "Dreamchild" that used Jim Henson creations to portray the Wonderland characters. I loved that movie. I believe it's not on DVD. Add that to the MIA list. |

Yes, in Prospero's Books

In the many versions of Oliver Twist, I had Jack Wild in Oliver! in mind. Jack Wild is probably better known as Jimmy in H.R. Pufnstuf but I figure "Jimmy" with no last name is to vague.

That was a terrific movie! I considered including Alan Bennet (The Mock Turtle in Dreamchild) but I might have if he had had an interesting other role to refer to. He did the voice of Mole in a TV version of Wind in the Willows and I'd've loved to refer to Beatrix Potter's Timmie Willie but all in all that'd have been too obscure. I want to keep these reasonably well-known actors and roles in not too obscure movies.
Other actors who've played the Mock Turtle include Roy Skelton who was the voice of the Daleks in Dr. Who and Burr Tyllstrom, the puppeteer of Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.
