Ok Battie I loaded up on zinc and vitamin c and drove up to the Land of Oak to check this game out just for you!
Ok I'm lying, it's totally self serving, I wanted to go to Pyramid Ale House and play the game anyway.
I have likes and gripes. The environment interaction has improved over the last games (I am blanking on 4 for some reason). When you go through a door in this one, you actually go through it and have the option of turning back. As opposed to previous games where you had to wait for the next room to load. You can bump into and knock stuff over. When you do damage to a monster, it becomes visible on them. It just LOOKS all around better, and the look and atmosphere set the scene for something particularly mortifying.
Unfortunately I haven't been mortified yet. The makers seem to have retired the startling scare factor of the old games for something more predicable and hackneyed and...not startling because you expect it.
Also thus far, the story is pretty forgettable and not very engaging.
At first I was excited because fighting SEEMED harder and more interactive but once you figure out how to kill one thing, it pretty much applies to the rest of them. But watching the nurses relentlessly hack you is slightly amusing.
I dunno. I haven't been playing long. The nurses are more cleavagy and that's cool. I'm thinking I have to revive my Silent Hill nurse costume for this Halloween as well.

Oh one thing I really like is when the world changes, it's in real time - not in loading time like the old games. Great visuals.
Of course, the music is, as always, one of the best parts of the game. I'm an audiophile, and I need the Silent Hill brand music to set the mood for me - I love it. |

OH GOD I fell asleep playing and had disturbing dreams.
Do you ever play a game and delay finishing it because you don't want it to be over?
...and when Doozer saw the breadth of her domain she wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer... |

Absolutely! They say games have replay value, but let's face it...if you've played story mode once, you don't need to again, alternate endings or no. |

I've started calling one of the remaining kittens Pyramid Head.
Doesn't it look fierce?
