| This is a general happy holiday thread for all those holidays that don't have their own thread. |

So things have come full circle for him in a way. That's kind of cool.
For the longest time I'd thought I was a rooster because I forgot to adjust for the Chinese calendar when looking at my year. I prefer being the monkey that I am! :-)
Happy Lunar New Year folks! |

Strangely enough, I'm a rooster.
You had me wondering if I was really a monkey for a minute, but no, I'm still a rooster.
It wouldn't have been the first time somebody made a monkey out of me. |

Yep! Good guess. ;-) And you're not the only one who missed it -- stupid Jan 1st bdays.
I'm aging backwards like Benjamin Button though, so all is okay with the world.

I got a lot of flack at my New Years Family reunion for not bringing in the best year for the rat in '08. Here's to the determination and discipline of the OX in '09!
And here are some New Years Recipes for the foodies out there ^^

I noticed that the Cherry Blossoms are all in full bloom in SF today. In February...
weather extremes make me nervous. |

Yeah this drought is not good, not good at all. Some rain is coming but needs to be more than it probably is to make much of a difference. Everyone on the West Coast do a rain dance!
Meanwhile, speaking of groundhog day, try this remix of the Groundhog Day movie trailer, done as a depressing drama.

| Haha, that was a pretty awesomely well-cut trailer. Though I am partial to say that by the simple use of the song from Requiem automatically makes anything 500% more heart-wrenchingly depressing. If I were a bigger jerk, I'd shoot my friends' upcoming wedding with the same song as a joke. But alas, I am compounded by my own laziness and the fact that I'll be propped up against the open bar for most of the day! |

I did too! Did you get a crazy stomach bug like I did? Puking and fever all day long. Way to spend the long weekend ... :( Been taking probiotics and eating rice porridge and I feel better now.
Anyway hope you all had a nice one! |

Nope, hurt my back again instead. Got a steroid pack waiting for me at the pharmacy by now though. :D Spent part of the day on the couch, watching Duckman rant about working and women. |

Somehow watching angry Duckman episodes seems a befitting thing to be seeing when you're lying on the couch in pain.
I used to watch that show late at night when I was.. 14? I'm fairly certain it must've messed with my development in some way during my teens. |

It totally was!

I watched it late at night when I was 8-10. My grandpa had this giant satellite dish on his property and didn't care what I watched. The whole series is on DVD now, and even though is struggles badly in the fourth season, I'd give it a watch. It's so worth it, especially since the jokes (10-15 years later) are still relevant. Some the jokes naming politicians made me laugh for the irony - just replace 'em with some recent names, and you're good to go.
Think the only thing that sticks out badly over the series as 'old' might be the feminism jokes. So-called rabid feminism isn't quite as influential anymore (but the jokes are still funny). |
