| Anyone have suggestions for what the best computer 3D animation program would be? I'm very techy (programmer), and am interested in realistic human animations as well as cartoonish creature animations. |

If you're thinking about making a machinima, I've heard Unreal 2 is the best engine for that. Check out some info at http://www.machinima.com/ .
If you're thinking of making a Pixar-type thing, I don't think there's any good programs for general users. Of course if you want to spend a lot of money there's probably something. |

There's also Poser, from Curious Labs: http://www.curiouslabs.com/
There seems to be a lot of pre-built "stuff" for Poser -- hair styles, props, settings, clothes, etc. See, for example: http://poserworld.com/
But it gets pretty expensive pretty quickly if you try to buy every bit of clothing, facial hair, prop, etc. |
