| I read that Freaks is being released on DVD in August. Is this true? Is Greencine going to get it?? |

I wonder what kind of extras the DVD will have, a documentary about how the film was widely banned and suppressed at the time of release would be a pretty nice one. I think you would almost need to have some kind of extra content on the DVD since it's not a very long film (just a little over an hour). I've wanted to have this film on DVD for a while, I'm glad to hear that its on the way.
I believe the actual line is "One of us! One of us! Google gobble, one of us!". |

| I'm wondering what version it will be. The original long version, the slightly shorter released version, or the highly edited version. |

I got the following from a post on imdb's thread from a person calling themself "nicenwide":
just got this info from dvdreview.com..........
Freaks - This classic from horror master-hack Tod Browning was first released in 1932, but subsequently banned in England for more than 30 years because of its controversial casting and portrayal of real people with grotesque physical deformities. DVD will be released on Aug.10th.
Bonus material includes three alternate endings, an all-new documentary Freaks: Sideshow Cinema, commentary by David J. Ska and a special message prologue added for the theatrical reissue.
Doesn't it sound delightful?!! |

| I wish it would include the documentary that was shown with the film during its original release. I hear it has to be seen to be believed. |

What's funny is that GreenCine has had cover art for the DVD for a few weeks, but still no RENT button. Well, I have checked today. |

Speaking of freaks. There's is a freakishly good wood oven pizza place in my neighborhood that makes the best garlic and bacon and goat cheese pizza.

Just testing your theory.
Not every thread. Just the ones where you posted last.

The two aren't mutually exclussive, but don't be so senstive. I told you. I'm testing your theory about killing threads when the turn to food. It's a joke. Of course, I feel like being an ass. I wouldn't waste time on message boards at all if I didn't.

I'm annoying and insist on helping, even though I've never seen or heard of this movie. More movies for GreenCine!!! GC Catalog Entry for Freaks; "no release date has been finalized" it says. Bummer. Amazon's Entry for the Freaks DVD; supposed release date is supposedly 8/10, if you're impatient. $13.98 Deep Discount DVD's entry; also for 8/10. $13.26; that's the first time I've seen Amazon's price so close to DDDVD (did I stutter?). I smell conspiracy.
None of these have any info on the extras, though. |

Well. *sniff*. I was a joke. What's particularly ass-like about posting about food?

| I saw FREAKS at the Castro theater once (I don't which version), it really is an odd film...although it clearly tries to be sympathetic to the freaks, it also fully exploits their freakishness to scare the audience at the end when they get mad..indeed the movie definitely wants to gawk at them as we see their "behind the scenes" lives. Is the fact that we are watching them on screen instead of at a fair make our gawking any less cruel? This is one of the few movies I've seen that made me feel a bit queasy and guilty for enjoying it. |

jross3, I'm sure we'll update this relatively soon, i.e., as soon as we're sure about this. So often, release dates are announced and then called off or delayed at the last moment! |
