There's an adult anime sub-genre (Hentai), but no corresponding adult animation sub-genre. Got me to thinking, do such movies exist (adult animated, but non-anime movies)? Does GC carry them? Are they popular, or are the vast majority of adult cartoons hentai?

Well of course there was Fritz the Cat, wasn't there?

But not much else that I know of.... In America it's a lot cheaper to crank the camera and hire real humans to be filmed performing sex acts. Why bother to go through the trouble of drawing it?

I just wonder if it's more than that. Comics and anime seem much more acceptable in Asia than the US. Here, they're seen as stuff for kids (though that is changing). I wonder if the reason there's no adult american animation is simply because there's no interest in it. But then again, I've seen adult american comics, so there's gotta be some interest.

I mean, I know there's "Cool World" and "Heavy Metal", and yeah, "Fritz the Cat", but that's about it... far as I know (and I don't know that far).

One of my old roommates had a VHS copy of a collection of animated fairy tales and children's stories turned into porn. There was a porn version of Snow White, with all the seven dwarves getting into the action. There was a porn version of Hansel and Gretel, with Gretel getting revenge of a sexual nature on the witch. There were a number of other stories as well.

The problem is that you can't buy it, because some of the stories have also been animated by Disney. And Disney thinks that if they animated a story, they own the story itself forever. So if someone sells a tape of Snow White getting balled by dwarves, Disney lawyers will descend upon them in a storm of legal papers. If GC were to try to carry it, Disney would put them out of business.

And speaking of Disney, somewhere out there is an animated version of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy all getting wild. The only way you're going to see this stuff is through bootlegs.

There aren't *any* animation subgenres on GC. If there were (I'd suggest the usual comedy, adventure, but also feature length, compilation, tv, festivals, mature (to separate Bevis and Butthead and Happy Tree Friends from 101 Dalmations)).

In general I don't think the market and interest is there for a adult cartoons. There's always the odd thing popping up underground or on the internet and then there are always animated shorts showing up in animation festivals. (BTW What *is* the usual precedure to distribute a short feature, animated or otherwise? There's an academy award for best short but how does one actually get to *see* a short?) "Adult" movies weren't even legal in the US until four decades ago and aren't considered mainstream marketable (as hamano said, it's cheaper to just film people) and animation isn't considered a "serious" or "real" film media.

Still, as Shaky, pointed out there is the odd underground thing here or there. But for the most part they are consistant enough to be a full blown subgenre.

Did anyone ever see this one?

Dirty Duck

It's more of a wacky Zappa-fest than it is porn, but it gets pretty raunchy... Also extremely hard to find on video, alas.

Nope, haven't even heard of it. I'm not really looking for any specific titles, just curious why there's so much hentai around, but no non-hentai adult animation.

Zappa-fest? Interesting...
