I read about this recent documentary film about Chernobyl, Pripyat, in Film Comment and it sounds extremely intriguing. Apparently it showed on the Sundance channel recently.
Anyone have any idea how soon something like this might be out on DVD and available on Greencine? Is there someone I have to lobby? I really want to see this film! |

| Okay, guess it's too early to worry about a DVD release. Well, anyone seen it on the Sundance channel?? |

I wish I'd caught this. Been checking to see if it's going to be run again. Meanwhile, I'm also checking around to see if there's any word on a date for a DVD release, but, as you surmised, none yet. It hasn't officially been released here theatrically, and the distributors are so small I can't even find a web site for them... But we'll keep looking. When it does come out on disc, we'll certainly get it.

Yeah, the argument in favor of getting cable is getting stronger and stronger, it seems.

Thanks for checking. I'm sure it's the sort of film that could be a hit with GCers. |

| That does actually look fascinating, especially if it focusses on people living in this surreal, twilight dead-zone. Could be a great metaphor for our entire moribund society (don't believe me? wait 'til gas is seven bucks a tank.) Herzog should make one of his semi-fictional films there--it would be a perfect match. |
