Post your favorite movie lines, ones you quote to other people or never forget, here. New movies and older movies, it doesn't matter. Whatever you think is a great line of dialogue (and maybe why you love it so much). I'm trying to think of my own favorites as I prep to teach a scriptwriting workshop in the fall.
I'll never forget -- and, lord if it isn't still relevant today -- this famous speech from Network:
"I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!""
I actually said this the other day to someone, in jest of course (I didn't have a switchblade out):
"You're a very nosy fellow, kitty cat."
Remember who said that line in Chinatown? |

We could actually make this a guessing game if you want. Post a favorite quote and see who can guess the film (though with the IMDB it's pretty easy to cheat).
"Yeah, I'm fine. I snapped my chin down onto some guy's fist and hit another one in the knee with my nose."

"Crazy, Toys in the attic I am crazy, Truly gone fishing. They must have taken my marbles away....."
This is from a DVD but I don't know if it is called a movie or not. |

From Pink Floyd's the Wall, yah?
And nope, Hamano, not officially a game. People can name their source or not, just thought it would be fun to try to guess first. My quotes above are from Play It Again, Sam; Galaxy Quest; The Conversation; and Murder, My Sweet, in order. |

OK, not a movie, but still out on DVD:

Aside from a dozen lines from The Dark Knight, there's also:
"Hold my watch, because if it breaks I'll kill everyone on this train."
"Just shove them out of the way." "They're human beings, John, not sheep!" "If you insist on splitting hairs." "I do, actually." "*pause* That one looks like a sheep."
I've probably had both of those on my profile at one time or another. :P |

Ha, that was Polanski talking to Jack just before he cuts his nose. Don't know if I have the quote quite right, but I tend to throw out his next line, "you know what happens to nosy people?"

It's Christopher Walken in Joe Dirt. It was on tv the other night, and I happened to catch it hanging out with my roommate (he's quite ill, so watching bad movies is the extent of his capabilities right now and he gets bored doing it alone). If I remember correctly, he says it to a fire extinguisher. |

I'm impressed that you figured out it was a Walken line! |
