In the news item leading to this topic, I didn't mention Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl Diary. In part because it's not really a blog, of course, but a diary. And in part because it looks like it's been a while since he updated it. But that last entry is kind of fun because he oozes so much enthusiasm for the movie he's making -- and for his stars, the recently engaged Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, "the finest actress I've ever worked with to date."

Still, hats off to Mr. Smith for getting involved with the Net so early and often (he's had a site of one sort or another for years now).

Who else is out there filling us in on the goings on behind the scenes?

It's funny, in a way. With some DVDs, for example, once you've watched all the extras, and of course, seen all the promo reports on TV leading up to a film's release in the first place, you sometimes wonder: Could there possibly be anything left about this movie that I don't know about now? "Making of"s and so on used to be kind of exciting when they were more rare. But now they're part and parcel of the whole process, often contractually as well. And now, with the blogging phenomenon, we're getting all this live. When it's someone who can write as interestingly as Neil Gaiman, though, that's a plus.

But that'll be next, won't it: a blog by a crew member on a "Making of" team...

To paraphrase Nino Manfredi, che significa, blog?
