Use this space to post the latest news from the world of film and TV actors/personalities. And, of course, to discuss these items with frothy abandon.

Such as:

The rumors that Amy Sedaris might be the next in line to replace Craig Kilborn as host of The Late, Late Show.

You can also go to our blog, The GreenCine Daily, to scan through the latest film world tidbits, before coming here to talk about 'em...

Tip from our GC Daily, in the New Orleans Time Picayune:

The Confederacy of Dunces film is now... off again. Is this bad news or good news?

I'm mixed; as a fan of the book, I was both excited and very nervous about the idea of a film version and think it may be better off let rest in peace. The joy is in the writing and vivid characterizations (and locations), would be rather hard to capture on film...

Hey Mr. underdoggie, off the record, on the QT and strictly hush-hush, but isn't this thread a rip-off of this dead thread! ; ^ )

I was under the impression that The GreenCine Daily was going to be linked on the main page. What happened?

This is my main gossip source. No clue how much is accurate, but it makes for interesting reading:

The rumors that Amy Sedaris might be the next in line...

I certainly hope that this rumor is untrue because, if not, I'd actually have to watch that show!

Is America really ready for a female late-night talk show host? Why are we so totally "behind the times" on nearly everything? I'm still waiting for us to switch to the metric system...

They also mention smarmy unfunny Jeff Ross, who seems a more likely replacement for smarmy unfunny Craig Kilborn. I can't see Amy Sedaris being interested in doing a daily program, awesome as that would be.

I heard whispers that JBellows was going to be the fill in. But his work won't let him take a sabbatical. Hmmmm. I wonder what JBellows is going to do next, the tension, the tension.

Its not really about me. Its about the 4400. Slices of ham, that is.

Q) How does Martha Stewart curse if she sticks herself while embroidering her initials on her satin pillowcase?
A) "Holy sheet!"

D'oh! That one was so old that I didn't even find it (or lost patience) when searching for something similar. Well, consider this a revival, or resuscitation of the spirit of your thread. :-)

It is linked under the Departments pull down menu (left-hand side nav bar). We'll probably point to it even more overtly as our site is tweaked soon...

As for Ms. Sedaris, I agree, I'd have to watch that show for the first time were she made host, and I agree with skepticism that it would happen. We are behind the times as far as women talk show hosts, at least for late night shows go (Ellen and co. during daytime, which is traditionally considered more of a "women's milieu"). Sedaris is edgy which would suit the hour, but probably too creative to want the job.

If you point your mouse to page 2 of Star Power it is listed fourth from the top, which certainly is faster and easier than doing a cumbersome search of the discussions (hint hint).

Resuscitation approved and thus far successful.

Double d'oh!

We have withheld all rumors because they are smutty, slanderous, and presently under scrutiny by our attorneys.

Rumor! Rumor! Rumor!

Jason vs. Freddy vs. Ash news courtesy AICN.com
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SOME PROFANITY

Hey folks, Harry here... Tomorrow you'll find out that Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell are in the thick of negotiations to have ASH kick the living shit out FREDDY and JASON. Now, we all know they've been talking about it since way the hell back when FREDDY VS JASON came out, but they've continued to work on getting this thing to happen.
Why?
Well, as you have probably noticed... Bruce Campbell is beginning to catch on. The feeling is, that by having Ash kick the shit out of Freddy and Jason... not only will the character of ASH be spring-boarded into the mainstream by those two Horror mainstays, but will be popular enough to risk sinking major money and promotion into an ASH stand-alone film. I know... geek wet dream material, but let's face it... the only way Sam Raimi would get back to directing ASH instead of wasting his time on these little films for Sony, is if ASH can be held in a higher esteem. At least, that's what the folks at CAA are whispering.
Now is the deal done? No, but it's getting close... the negotiations have turned quite friendly and everyone involved thinks this is a doable deal... that's why the trades are going to go ahead with the "in negotiations" story which is like the biggest "NO SHIT" I've seen in a long time.
Raimi and crew seem to be high on the treatment coming out of New Line, but as soon as the deal gets worked out, the next step of banging the script out, finding the right director (NOT PAUL W.S. ANDERSON) and then picking the right selection of potential redmeat for everyone to chop up, possess, squish, pummel, bite, eat, saw and all around slaughter will have to begin. It just has to have a badass S-MART battle. Ya know... if they don't fuck this up ala Fox, this could be the great geekgasm mop the floors flick of 2005 or 2006.

A tip from one our GreenCine Daily readers:

There's a new blog "by" Quentin Tarantino.

And much debate as to whether it's *really* him or some very clever faker. Most are suspecting it's the latter. Look through it and judge for yourself.

I wonder myself - not familiar enough with Tarantino to say. Regardless it's an interesting read on movies, funny and irreverent discussion from a knowledgeable fan - it's not as wishy-washy or reverential as most of what I read. I'm also a fan of Mr. Cranky, although as a movie review site, some weeks are better than others, and this week is very light.

I found this bit of news sickly amusing [from the IMDB News]:

Olsen T-Shirt Makers Insist They Were Making a "Good Gesture" (9/29/04)

Bosses of the company halted from using Mary-Kate Olsen's image on their T-shirts inspired by her anorexia battle insist they were making a "good gesture". The 'Save Mary-Kate' T-shirts - which featured a sketched the picture of the actress, complete with protruding ribs - were launched in the summer by design company Randy And Moss, whose owners say they had planned to give 20 per cent of profits to America's National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). But NEDA rejected their offer, and last week, representatives for Mary-Kate and her twin sister Ashley slapped the company with a cease-and-desist letter for unauthorized use of her image. Randy and Moss co-founder Melissa Moss says, "I'm disappointed. It started out as a good gesture. A positive thing. We did get cease-and-desisted and we are no longer selling them, and we have received many emails asking, 'Please can I get a shirt?' Eating disorders aren't beautiful and we wanted to show the way that she was looking, which isn't at her most glamorous. Her ribs were sticking out. Here we are getting denied trying to donate money. It was really a shock to me."

Meanwhile:

Crowe, Clooney, Hanks, and Jackman Battle for Role

Hollywood hunks Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman are battling for the lead role in movie adaptation of best-seller The Da Vinci Code. The film's director, Ron Howard will choose which actor would best suit the role of Robert Langdon, who discovers clues in Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, which lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for 2000 years. The novel's author, Dan Brown is currently suing Lewis Perdue, who claims his work has been plagiarized and is planning a rival Da Vinci film with reality TV king Mark Burnett.

===========

Fans of the book: Who would you vote for? Personally, I say no on Hanks and probably Clooney. Maybe Jackman would be right.
