I read that rentals of Schwarzenegger films from N*****x have gone up %132 since he announced his run for governor. Has there been any kind of increase in Schwarzenegger rentals at GC? (probably not nearly that dramatic though). I only use GC for foreign and obscure stuff and a pretty cool local video store for everything else, so I wouldn't be renting Schwarzenegger films from GC (even though he's done a few that I like a lot, like the first Terminator and Conan The Barbarian). Hercules in New York would be an exception since I don't think it's rentable around here (and it's probably not anything that I need to own! GC is nice for renting stuff that I'm curious about, but leery of purchasing blindly). It's status is green right now, I would've thought that there would be a big run on this title. I've known about it for a long time, but I've never seen it (and I've got lots of stuff on my queue ahead of it which takes priority). I've heard that the DVD includes two audio tracks, one with Arnold's voice looped by someone else, and another with his at-that-time impenatrable Austrian accent.

BTW, I'm a Texas resident so I don't get to vote in the recall election.

While we're on the subject of hilariously awful Hercules movies, I wish Lou Ferrigno would run for governor of some state so Luigi Cozzi's 1985 laugh-fest Hercules would get a DVD release (and it's sequel, which I've never managed to see). I just about lost it when Lou picked up a guy in a bear suit and threw him into outer space, thereby creating the constellation Ursus! I think I'll go dig out my tape that I made from a rental copy and queue up that scene, I am in need of a good chuckle. Oh yeah, frequent Brian De Palma composer Pino Donaggio did the enjoyably bombastic score, I'm humming the main theme right now. (when Arnold does a press conference, why doesn't he have Basil Poledouris' Conan the Barbarian theme blaring?)

I'm a Texan, too. Let's recall Gov. Perry, PLEASEEEE! Unfortunatly, in Texas, it takes about 10 billion signatures for a recall election.

But then, maybe we could get Sandra Bullock to run.

The Greeks actually did name many constellations after characters in their myths, like Casseoapia, Andromeda, Cetus, and others. Hercules himself has one - but Orion had the better agent.

And man, go out and check out MARS tonight! It blazes!

If California voters rented Pumping Iron, would that help or hurt his career? It's been so long since I've seen it...

There actually has not been a significant increase in Arnold S. (I'm not even going to attempt to spell that last name) rentals at GreenCine. My guess is that our member base is not really the same as other movie rental stores. All I know is that if AS wins I'm moving to Oregon. :)

There has, however, been a significant bump in the number of Gary Coleman DVD rentals.

How about Harry Knowles? :)

Here's The Onion's guide to the frontrunners in CA's runoff election if anyone hasn't seen it yet.
