IS anyone here a big fan of Peter Jacksons LORD OF THE RINGS? Okay how many of you saw Part 2 twenty times cuz the battle scene is COOOOOOL!!! or the part where Orlando Bloom flies onto the horse with Gimli?
Which part makes you thirst for more hahaha. |

| Have you seen the preview for The Return of the King yet? It got me wishing it was December 17th already. |

I just bought the Two Towers DVD set, because I couldn't even wait for November for the 4-disc 2Towers set. (Hoping my g/f will break down and buy it; I geeked out with the Fellowship 4 disc set last year and that was enough for me for now. I don't think I've seen all of the extras on there yet!)
So a Return of the King coming attraction is on the DVD, too, and had me drooling. I think it'll be the best yet. Peter Jackson said he thinks the battle set piece in this one will dwarf even the amazing sequence in the Two Towers, if you can believe it.

| I bought the Fellowship of the Ring gift set last time because the bookends were so cool. This time, I'm debating whether to get the Two Towers gift set because I'm not sure I want a statue of Gollum around. My boyfriend thinks I should, but Gollum is so not attractive. |

Just saw the trailer for the new one. Very excellent. Amazing quality. Had a very HDTV-ish feel. I can't wait until it comes out.
The part I like the best about the previous one was the tree the caught on fire. When the flood came in you can see him run for the water and dive in. That was funny. Ok well that wasn't the best part, but its always the stupid little things that you remember. |

| Yes, if the movie sucks, at least we'll always have that trailer. |

Yes, December 17th is the most important day of that month. And my birthday is even on the 24th! Hell, it is the most important day of this year.
It is sooo good to see Tolkien's magnus opus get a decent screen treatment. Ralph Bakshi's heart was in the right place but he just didn't have the money to do it right (not to mention a lousy music track). I can't even type Rankin and Bass without spitting! Phut!
Peter Jackson and his crew have done absolute magic. Even without seeing the final film of the trilogy, I am convinced that collectively, this "Lord of the Rings" is the best film in the world. Of all time.
I have read the trilogy at least six times since the 60's, most recently the summer before the "Fellowship of the Ring". Of course there are differences. But man, what an achievement!
I will not rent these DVD's, they must be owned and backed up! |

Awwww...there'll always be a special place in my heart for that one...
But I do hope Jackson ends up doing The Hobbit at some point... |

| According to the website, the extended versions of the first two will be shown in theaters prior to the Return of the King. Also, there will be a marathon of all THREE movies back to back on Dec. 16. Does anybody know where this will take place in the SF area? Supposedly the tickets will be for sale "in the fall", but I haven't heard much about it yet. |

Thanks for the info. Yep, it's that "elsewhere" bit that gets to me. I guess no city in CA qualifies as a "top 10 market". The closest is Tucson, AZ, right? Too far for a drive. |
