Bye Bye. Good luck. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
For the benefit of others: "Quick Return" works as credit tokens. If you are on a 3-out plan. GC gives you three tokens. Every time you tell GC that you have 'quick-returned' a DVD, GC takes your words for it and send you the next disc. But now you have used up one credit token. If you already used up all your three tokens, then you cannot expect any more DVD from GC. Only when GC actually received a DVD you have allegedly mailed back, then you'll get a quick-return token freed up.

Although there may be a temptation from time to time to claim a 'quick return' on a movie before it's even been received, to get your queue moving along faster, this is never a good idea. Occasionally discs get delayed in the mail -- and, very occasionally, lost in the mail -- so if you've reported a 'quick return' and then the disc doesn't show up, you're exposed as a liar and a fool, and cannot, for instance, then report a 7-day delay in receiving it. In any event, reporting a 'quick return' prematurely only gives you a temporary speed-up in your queue, causing a longer wait for the next discs to go out. |

Dear Matt, We can't add that much more to what the helpful members above have already written to explain Quick Return, but if you're still unclear on what it means:
Basically you can use it to speed up the shipping process. Drop a disc in the mail and hit quick return on that DVD in your queue, and within a day later we'll free your queue, put that returned DVD in a waiting/status, and send you the next available movie in your queue, so you don't have to wait for the USPS to deliver to us.
If the USPS is seriously lagging and we haven't rec'd that disc within 7 days, you should email us at support@greencine.com so we can mark that DVD as lost, so you won't be prevented from quick returning future checked out DVDs. Make sense? Let us know if it doesn't.
I should add that NF doesn't offer quick return.
Thanks!

I have NO complaints. Quick return resolved all my impatient issues after Greencines move to the SoCal. I am very happy with the system. Thank you Greencine!

| I agree, the last 6 months have seen a great improvement with consistency in the mail system, and GC service in general. Quick return works great for me. I will add though, that it really helps to be on at least a 5-out plan to keep the flow going, and to keep your impatience down too ;) |

I like the Quick Return option. It lets me see how the USPS is doing without holding up my queue. For instance, the last disc I Quick Returned was sent on 6/10/2008. So far, GC still has not received it. In the old days, I would have given up at around 2-3 weeks, but now I'm okay with just waiting as I am still receiving discs via the regular wait.
Maybe I should take bets? |

A better bet would be to email support so they can mark that one as lost. Seems like it probably is, or is lying around a postman's house after he watched it and forgot ;-) but either way we should be alerted/prodded about that MIA disc so we can check inventory and so you're free to Quick Return a 2nd disc if needed. |

I kind of wish you hadn't said that out loud, shiftless -- I think you've brought down the wrath of the Bad Luck goddess. For a while there my GC mail back and forth was going great, with only 2 or 3 days transit time each way. But ever since you posted this comment mail has gone all to hell, with 7-day times becoming the norm.
Well, maybe USPS layoffs might have something to do with it too. |
