no scoop but i just got an email from the sf indie fest organizers and they say:
" If you've been waiting patiently for this year's genre festival, mark your calendars for June 2-9 for (yet) Another Hole in the Head at the Roxie. Festival programs will be out on the street and on line next week at http://www.holehead.org " |

Horror fans: Request "The Nest"! I've wanted to see this gross-out mutant-roach flick since I saw an unusually graphic trailer years ago. Something reminded me of it recently, so I looked it up here and saw that it has "request" status. I've been reading reviews on IMDB, and while I'm sure it's no lost classic, it looks like a good slimy Eighties creature movie with Fly/Thing-type effects. Surely there are some old-school latex and slime afficionados here, enough to justify making this flick available to the people.
If you still aren't convinced, listen to Joe Bob :
...Eight dead bodies. Arms roll. Dog mutilation, with gratuitous maggots. Rat-eating. Cat-eating. Roach stampede. Exploding house. Cat Roach. Roach Mayor. Roach Float. Dempster Dumpster cockroach attack. Fat lady devoured by roaches. Boiled roaches. Phone lines cut by roaches. Frozen roaches. Gratuitous quotations from Carl Jung. Toilet Fu. Syrup Fu....

I've got the Russian subtitled version of Immortel and I think it is one of Enki Bilal's best films because finally the technology has caught up to tell his stories, but I don't know how this is interpreted as a horror film. It is not suspenseful like a horror film should be... I guess it is more scifi, but I am not complaining because I've been trying to drag people over to watch it. It is definitely perfect for the big screen so try to catch it in the theatre before it is on DVD. |

i don't know about you other horror watchers (judging from the few responses there's not many of us here) but i felt like this years list is one from a tired group of people. i mean, Bruce Campbell's poorly reviewed film will be showing one week later but BC will be there (the Balboa theater) to make the event, well, eventful; "evil dead: live" is good fun but if you're a bay area horror fan and haven't seen it yet...you got to get a life, dude! Come on! anyway...here's the movie list for this year...
http://www.holehead.org/
All Souls Day: Dia De Los Muertos Audition Bakko Yokaiden Kibakichi The Calamari Wrestler CL.one Cold & Dark Dead Meat Evil Aliens Evil Dead: Live Evil Eyes Godzilla: Final Wars Immortel ad Vitam KatieBird: certifiable crazy person Kichiku Dai Enkai Man with the Screaming Brain The Prodigy Satans Playground The Thrill Killers |

Every horror-comedy gorehound needs to see "Evil Aliens"! With a respectfull voice of Raimi and Jackson, this is one AWESOME splatstick movie! On par with the other last years indie "Undead". The last showing is tonight at 5 over at the Roxie (SF). You will not be disappointed!

I think I should move to SF. :( I love Raimi...Evil and Evil Aliens are on my "gotta see" list.
What's Evil Dead: Live?
I just rented Immortel from GC, before reading the thread. >:P Tracked down a trailer on the web...seemed like it might be interesting |

| Alright...semi-related topic. (Figured it was better to post here than create a new thread that would have, probably, all of two posts, rotfl.) I finally saw Silent Hill. I didn't get the ending. Can anyone elighten me? |

| Out of curiosity, what actually constitutes an indie horror film? Is this just another term for newer horror films with a b-movie type spin? |
