Anyone but me been paying attention to this? I watched the first Japanese trailer awhile ago, and a new trailer just came out at E3.

Anyway Looks ****ing sweet. I can't wait til this summer when it comes out. (its a movie based on the game Final Fantasy VII and takes place after the ending of the game)

any thoughts?

I seriously thought about performing seppuku after playing FFX-2 (oh god where is the story!!! (;_;)). Needless to say i've lost faith. Looking good is not enough, i'm a plot wh0re. Good story and interesting characters are what make the game good, graphics are just a passing embodiment of current technology.

If I was talking with my father about baseball and said, "uh, its a game", he would be one less child and serving prison time. And glad to do it.

If I was talking to my old college roommate and said, Hey, Grease, "uh, its a play, right?", he would be minus one friend and the new love toy of an inmate in Attica and thoroughly enjoying the new experience.

If I was talking to DBooher about anime and said, "hey, they're cartoons." Well, she would PM other otaku, they would find out where I lived, my manager would get a call several days from now about an awful stench coming from my apartment and the bill collectors would wonder why the bills haven't been paid...

Yes. Its a movie. But also: its a MOVIE.

Yes...
My associates and I would egg the interior of JBellow's apt with extra large (grade) eggs, before kidnapping him, and locking him in Jeff's (otaku member #32) basement. There we would slowly break down the fundamentals of anime vs "cartoons," this process could take weeks...months...yes....it's a brilliant plan....
What did u think the awful stench was? Rotting meat? Do you know how expensive cutlets are at Ralphs?! NO no...eggs will do nicely...

heh okay you might be taking it to extremely funny exageration, but the previous poster seemed to get it confused with a game.

but yeah it is THE MOVIE OF THIS SUMMER... I really can't wait the trailers look amazing and if anyone likes the game or even if they don't its worth checking out.

They have trailers at this site.... anyway definitely worth checking out... they are there once you get past the flash entrance, they are one of the octagons on the left.

Would this be a candidate for a Hollywood remake of "A Clockwork Orange"? Seth Green as the star? And the eggs, oh the eggs. Wonderful.

Sorry about that. Anyway let me revise that. I remember that the last FF movie also "looked" pretty good (spectacular really). I was sadly disappointed when i saw it though, however, I do have better hopes for this one. I'll have to watch the trailer a little later because i have to play in a concert tonight (school orchestra), wish me luck! (^ ^ )

It's totally sweet, you know?
(and when you're posting to the web about your concert, it sounds cooler if you leave the "orchestra" part out. "I'm playing in a concert tonight. It's totally sold out, and the audiance totally loves us." See?)

I'll probably watch this b/c its based upon FFVII, but I've been really disappointed in this series lately. FFX-2 was just an awful game. What is even worse is their attempt to move the title to anime. Final Fantasy Unlimited could be the worst anime that I've ever seen. It seems that they'll sell the name to anyone at this point.

Heh heh... I currently AM raising chocobos, as i just had to dust off FF7(PC) and give it a go. I'm shocked - just shocked at how much I remember! Wark!

FF7 ranks as one of the best in the series IMO and the new trailer showing Marlene and Tifa has really whet my appetite - I really feel like this should have been the Final Fantasy movie that was pushed into theaters... then maybe, just maybe, they would not have scrapped the rest of the trilogy. (Three films were planned, if I remember properly.)

ooohhh, I forgot about that... I should go find a copy and get it.

Same for me! I loved-loved-loved FF3 (or 6, if you had an imported Play Station), then 7 came out and I was like, "oooh, pretty". I got pretty caught up in the story. I hear some people actually cried at the end - grown men, even! Sure, (come on, it's been long enough, we're not spoiling much) Aeris's death scene was tough on me - especially since I had to watch it like ten times because I couldn't beat the following boss fight, but come on, really.

I beg you, Square-Enix! Bring back the magic! FFX was good, but we need the old goodness that didn't rely on lifelike graphics!

EXACTLY!! I can deal with the pimped-out GFX, but for gawd;s sake, we can get our fanservice from anime... depth and gameplay still ought to count for games...

On a related note, has anyone successfully used EPSXE to play FF9 on their PC? The PS1 is just too damn slow and ugly for me.

Actually I just tried it out because you asked, besides some slowdown/choppiness on some of the FMV (annoying but not too bad) it seems to play fine. Tested a battle and two Fmvs.

To get rid of the choppiness I suppose you could make an iso or bin/cue file from the CD and play it from that, since the choppiness is im sure cd-rom related.

If you are having other problems you probably have epsxe configured wrong for your pc hardware, if you were more specific about what exactly problem you were having I could help more

thanks! I just found the miracle of Alcohol 120%, so I'll be trying to do the .iso method - it turns out the guides I've been looking at are all done by a guy who plays on a Radeon 9700.. so me with my Radeon IGP 320 probably have to reallly tone down the GFX... I just can't believe that It's not possible to get something better than PSX graphics is all...
