but.. i just got a netflix account, and filled up the queue with everything i had on here..

so now what do i do? someone should recommend somethin on here that i cant get anywhere else.

anything is fine, as long as its not lame and doesnt suck. Plus, porn isnt that exciting so i dont really want any of that.

(a very realistic topic indeed...)

Well, I'd have to say go with the thing you came to GC for in the first place (that is, you could have just gone with NF in the first place... so surely GC specializes in something you like while NF doesn't?)
There are plenty of benefits to dual membership. NF has quite a few titles in good supply that GC has in short. GC has (mostly) better selection in several categories, better (human-to-human) support, and very few catalog errors... Netflix has automated support for common problems (lost discs and such), and an inconvenient handful of catalog holes and errors.

But you said you managed to queue up everything you had here, so maybe selection alone isn't much of an issue for you.
I should let you know, though: If you get a pretty good turnaround at NF, you will probably begin to see a lot of your queue items (especially anime - NF isn't really the anime fan's best friend) go to longer and longer waits.... They have an evil, evil system like that.
(another benefit of dual membership: even if both GC and NF have such a system for their availability and queue selection (I can't say that GC does... not for certain), by renting at both places you are keeping a lower throughput at each place - and thus you will get more of the low-availability movies at each place.)

Cuz GC rocks? Cuz NF has serious customer service problems that still annoy me, to this day? (Like no phone number I can call if there's a problem, and it's real hard to get customer service to respond through e-mail?)

The forums? Heh. The hentai? That's it!

No...Do you watch independent and/or foreign films often? (Not just anime.) Ummm...cuz you can find answers on GC if you can't recall the title of a movie? Or want realistic suggestions on movies you should see?

Hmmm...perhaps because it's supporting a small business, and might get you into heaven? Or because, by having two DVD-mail-rental programs, you have a better chance at getting that low-availability title jross mentioned? Like me...I got Elfen Lied here before I got it at NF. Same for Kyo Kara Maoh. Appleseed, I did get at NF first.

hmmmmmmm, titles GreenCine has but Netflix doesn't?
I'm sure somone out there knows of such things.

Well, I can think of a few like all those DVD-R's that include the Turkish Star Wars, E.T., Superman, etc. Hey, a Herzog doc on Dr. Gene Scott. How can you resist? There's a list of the DVD-R's out there somewhere. Just do a search for "Turkish".

Currently at my home courtesy of GreenCine is Shoeshine. Very good early Italian neo-realism, and I will return it soon.

Recently watched Ride in the Whirlwind with a very young Jack Nicholson. It's slow, but I thought it was a great reworking of the western genre.

Haven't seen it yet, but I certainly will; Three Extremes. Asian horror anthology.

Can't get any of these at Netflix I'm fairly certain.

"Secretly"?
(just kidding)

Well, if you want recommendations, you'll have to be more specific on what you're looking for.
For now, if you're short on stuff to rent, just distribute your queues based on availability.

Personally, my Netflix queue is full of long series discs (Star Trek Voyager, and after that, The X Files) with a little anime and some other random movies dispersed through it (I'm renting Blue Gender through them... which was a mistake, because their vol. 1 turned out to be the "the warrior" movie that was pieced together from the 26-episode series...). My GC queue has most of my anime and a bit of hentai with a few other random movies etc. GC, for whatever reason, only chose to carry the first three seasons of Voyager... thus forcing me to renew my NF membership (with no small amount of hesitation, mind you!)

Hi dv,

You could also browse through these eclection and staff selections, for a sampling of stuff...

And then there are member lists and reviews... you could link and queue up for hours on end!

You could also look in some of our recent newsletters, now archived on our press and marketing blog, for some recent releases we recommend.

Hope this helps, as a start... And yeah, let us know what genres in particular you're looking for.

LOL! I did think the same thing, then my mind jumped to, "Wait...how does watching hentai make me a freak?" I don't think I'm interested in being attacked by a tentacle beast. Well, I might be if he wooed me proper first. Muwaha!

dvyi, I know of one movie in my queue which NF doesn't have: Stratosphere Girl. :P

What exactly are you looking to watch?

Hey Battie, okay so dvyi is going to HATE me for changing the subject so soon but I just wanted to ask you what you thought of Elfen Lied?

Don't know what you are looking for but it is true that you really can't get a better selection of hentai than you can here at GC. Just needed to reinforce the hentai thing so Battie had another female backing her up. (Sometimes I just need to contribute to downplay her "freakiness" level) :P

No, not bad... see I have this elaborate plan, by making it blatantly obvious that your "freakiness" (for lack of a better word) is in need of downplaying I hide the fact that my "freakiness" level is rather high as well, although secretly I am proud of it and you should be too Battie, that's what makes us chicas *individual* (again, for lack of a better word). I call this evil plan... Project Transference, story of my life really.

May I suggest what's in your request list.

Let us know when they throttle you BTW. I just left that place after 6 months.

Now back to lurking.

Uh, I'm going to object to this. I watch hentai. He has an icon representing Kill Bill. Totally different!

Sex is not violence.

Okay, so the tentacles don't take "no" for an answer. And sometimes they do kill...

*sigh* I really can't object, after all. >:(
