I was browsing the upcoming releases at AnimeonDVD today, and found some wonderful news! Geneon is gonna be releasing box sets for Card Captor Sakura! (check it out)
The first set, by my calculations (875 mins at 25 mins an episode) should include episodes 1-35 - which is great, since the first movie takes place between episodes 35 and 36! (it says so on Hamano's list, and I double-checked myself while watching the series and it's 100% verified fact - nice catch, H!)
Set 2 will presumably finish the series, which is followed of course by the second movie and the Kero-chan movie (hidden extra on the disc - which I missed, so I'm glad to have this pitiful excuse to buy the DVD!)

I'm so happy! In my opinion (as self-declared clampHolic and expert) CCS is the best-adapted anime from a Clamp manga. I, of course, will be buying, but I hope to death that GreenCine picks up the sets, as the menus and such from the original Pioneer release were not that good - not to mention that it will probably save the GCitizens a few rental slots.

It goes without saying that these sets are long overdue! The first box comes out 10/4, and the second is yet to be announced. No indication yet that it will have a dub track, but I wouldn't put it past them - they've been doing pretty well in that department so far, and that's one thing that's kept a lot of folks from watching this series uncut (which is the ONLY valid way to watch it, IMEO).

(If it does come with a dub... even a decent one... please, folks! give the Japanese track a chance, it's some of the best voice work you'll easily find anywhere! Sakura Tange as Sakura was perfect, and Aya Hisakawa's Kero is a treat for the ears - not to mention that it's the most you'll see of Osaka dialect outside Azumanga Daioh!)
