This is a continuation of the Spring 2006 thread....

WOW! A new season of Honey & Clover just started! I'm getting the raws now, but I bet it'll take only a day or two for the first fansub to pop up!

The Honey&Clover 2nd season starts with a nice recap of the various relationships established in the first season, filling in some parts with new "footage"... it's a fine indication of another quality season of this great show. I think the first fansub just came out!

Well, this is the month for borrowing things! I borrowed The L Word from one friend, and Genshiken from another (and kind of have time to watch neither, lol). I also started downloading Peach Girl. It's surprisingly good. I remember when I first came across it on AnimeSuki and thought it would be ugly and not my thing...but I do like it! What's her face has this evil friend, Sae, who copies her and wants to disrupt any potential romance with a guy. She currently has two love interests: the charmingly annoying, Kairi, and the somewhat broody Touji. She's interesting though, and her fights, which do descend into physical punches, rotfl, are amusing. Peach Girl isn't the all-sweet, all-the-time shoujo that I really can't dig. It's more umm..fun and silly.

I'm succumbing to shoujo. *cries*

OMG, Bats, stop yourself before it's too late! Peach Girl leads to Boys Over Flowers, and after that you're doomed! DOOMED! You'll be cast away on Shoujo Island with jross and ayato4 and IronS and all them weirdos!

Come back this way, with me and Revy, and we can go demon hunting instead!

muahahaha

Yeeesss, love de shoujo. One of us! one of us!!
Do you mean you're learning to like shoujo in general, or that you're starting to like it... exclusively?
(I think you might already be there, but identity confusion compells me to link you to The Cult (not exclusively shojo, but there's plenty of it). Same goes for all the other romance fans lurking about.)

I gotta catch up! i've been gone too long. I'm still not at my own computer... and I won't be until Sunday night. -_-;

isn't the new Hellsing supposed to be out this summer?

Well, the classic partner for demon hunting would be Yokho, whom I personally believe to be one of the primary original inspirations for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But she's "out of print" and Revy would be fun to teach, no? I'd rather go slaying with her than Alucard or Masane-san (Witchblade) and hey, she wears those short shorts! Her potty-mouth is very entertaining! I'm still up because I'm catching up on Blood+ and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu... besides H&C2 there aren't any new shows worth downloading yet IMHO. But they're coming (I think...)

Binbou Shimai Monogatari - Oy, this is like watching a "live action" Binchoutan. The title means "The Tale of Two Impoverished Sisters"... Another shot at depicting the hard lives of orphaned children who have good hearts and work hard. The older sister is named Kyou ("Today") and the younger sister is named Asu ("Tomorrow"). Their mom died when Asu was less than a year old, and their father disappeared after spending all their savings by gambling.

The story is framed by narration from the spirit of the dead mother, in saccharine tones usually reserved for documentaries about puppies produced for 2 year old viewers. Curiously, this narration is by voice actress Aya Hisakawa (Skuld) and very similar to the narration from Binchoutan, which was done by another Ah, My Goddess alum, Kikuko Inoue (Belldandy).

Unless you find these pretty stories to be heartwarming (or you're just retarded or something) the only reason to check this out is to hear the voice actresses. Asu is voiced by the seiyuu who did Chiyo-chan on Azumanga Daioh, and Kyou is voiced by Maya Sakamoto so it's kinda fun to compare it to her work as Haruhi on Ouran High School Host Club. Maya is so "nice" and "kind" and "earnest" in this one, and so "cynical" and "deadpan" and occasionally "rough" in Ouran...

I have heard it said from resuscitated victims that panic gives way to a gentle calm, and serenity once your lungs fill... just let yourself go. Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) is wonderful... Don't fight it, just let yourself go ;)

Your limbs are growing heavy and warm; your eyelids are drooping further and further under shoujo's halcion embrace. Like a warm blanket it takes you in, Battie... just let yourself go. Why fight something sooo wonderful? No need to fight the rising surge or keep up with your bootless struggle; no need to keep treading, keep fighting the rolling azure shoujo sea that holds you. Succumb... and let yourself go, Battie...

"Tru-ssst in me," the bear crooned with kalidescopic eyes the size of saucers and a languidly curling, outstretched finger. (Doing his best Kaa impersonation). "Tru-sssst in me."

First they turned Witchblade into anime. Now they've done the same for Powerpuff Girls!!!

Momoko, Miyako and Kaoru are ordinary Japanese Middle School students in Tokyo City. But thanks to their exposure to Professor Utonium's Chemical Z they transform into Hyper Blossom, Rolling Bubbles, and Powered Buttercup, and the three are known as Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z!

At least they don't look like Thalidomide babies... They have normal limbs and facial features. And now they're complete with cute magical girl costume tranformations as they head out to fight Mojo Jojo and his monsters. Hey Mojo Jojo's voice is the same actor who did Bolt Crank in Eatman! Cool!

Kboy loved this show. Then again, he still watches Barney. Download at your own risk!
