I should be asleep by now, but I ain't -can't sleep (wired and bored; I'm watching Morning Musume on You Tube for reasons I can't grasp, but still I find that I can't stop watching; I gave up on sheep counting). If your wondering what in sam-hell I'm blathering about now, well, in less than that amount of time I shall just be beginning an 8+ hour exam I've been preparing for since last December: The MCAT (Medical College Admission Test).

They say (whoever in the hell they are?) you shouldn't get worked up over a test that will determine the rest of your life ("They" are probably the smug bastards who have already passed the damn thing); needless to say, I'm a tad twitchy. But, f@ck all that, on to my call for aid!

With my mad prep., especially this summer, I haven't been "keeping up with the Joneses" or even the Fukai's, so-to-speak in regards to my "usual" anime consumption, that and I'm nearly out of leads (read: I am out) for stuff that's already out, i.e. finished shows/series to watch.

I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF RECOMMENDATIONS!!!

ANYTHING! If it's anime, GREAT! If it's good, EVEN BETTER! If it's anime and it's good, WHY, THAT'S BEST OF ALL!

New or Old, I don't care!

Please help out this sad and twitchy Totoro! I'm hurtin' and I need a fix after the beating that's comin' Saturday morning, BADLY!!!

80 Hours, 13 minutes, 48 seconds, and 39/100ths of a second...

Alprazolam isn't helping (for any Pharmacist, Nurse, or Doctor types out there; FYI)

Give us a list of stuff you already got through (and some of the stuff you started but didn't like). Compiling such a list should keep you busy for a few minutes....

I suppose you've probably already seen Battle Athletes Victory. I just started it and I think it's just the sort of silly thing to take one's mind off things for a while. Though my experience does not suggest that it will help you go to sleep. Personally, an hour in, I'm still in "give it a shot, it has potential" mode.

Stay away if you are sensitive to ethnic stereotypes, though.

Oh, and Ursus, do whatever you have to to make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before.

Just wait, BAV really comes into its own in the forth vol. and beyond; quite good.

Based on your list, I would recommend:

Strawberry Eggs - NLee and I had some disagreement on this title... I defended it. Funny, and it has a bittersweet yet logical and satisfying ending. Bit of a taboo but if you like KoiKaze you should be fine with it. Great OP and ED songs.

Hand Maid May - Sweet little maid robot show that appeared waaay before Mahoromatic. It's harem but IMHO much better than many in that genre (Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi)... I have a little May figure on a shelf in the kitchen... Loved the OP song.

Oh you might want to move Dai Guard up in your queue. Like Dual it's a fun take on the "big robot" genre. It has a serious side (mostly having to do with the background of the leading female character) but a lot of it is a satire of being a corporate drone in a big Japanese company. Yoko Kanno did a nice insert song sung by Akino Arai (also sang "Voices" on Mac Plus), and she arranged the ED song. The director went on to direct FMA.

Rent Overman King Gainer! It's one of my favorites to come out over the last year.
Tenjho Tenge is also good.
Kamichu! is a favorite of mine among new releases. it's cute and fun (at least the first disc was, heheh) but not much is out so far.

All good things to know...

haven't seen it so I dunno. OKG is good, though.

> >Tenjho Tenge (Sounds similar to "Ikki Tousen?")

Both put a lot of focus on fighting and sex, but they differ in execution. IT (to me) was flat and shallow; it was all about servicing fans. Tenjho Tenge has much richer characters and it's not "service", but "adult situations". (yeah, that's still a service, but it's usually part of the plot)
Superficially they're very similar. but (regardless of timeline) Ikki Tousen feels like the generic knock-off version.

In the first episode of Tenjho Tenge, there's this little girl who can transform into a grow woman for combat. Of course when she does that, her kiddie clothing is hardly enough to cover her full-figured body.

Then there's this guy who fell into the girls' bath house. He landed on a naked beautiful woman (her enormous boobs must have cushioned his fall). Instead of getting mad, she fell madly in love with this guy.

"Adult Situations" or "Fan Services"? You tell me.

OK... other than that stuff then. ;-P

At least it's better than Ikki Tousen. Those girls like fighting tooo much.

I'd move up Twelve Kingdoms and Wrath of the Ninja (which is the mother of ninja movies as we know it...IMO). Also move up RG Veda if you like CLAMP without a ton of cuteness (ala Tsubasa Chronicle). Twelve Kingdoms, despite being "unfinished," contitutes a pretty good anime. It can drag at times, but the fully fleshed story and the character development (yes, you will hate the main character at first) makes up for it.

Anyway...You've seen Bastard and Berkserk, ya? >:P Pretear, providing you like shoujo? Elfen Lied, Gantz (if you enjoy action, sci-fi that gets pretty brutal? Gilgamesh and Gankutsuou? Karas, as yet unfinished..

Gankutsuou is a must.

NLee, do you have perfect recall for ecchi scenes? Or do you keep a little black notebook with a diary of boob sightings?
^_^

Well... Kintaro of The Golden Boy is my idol...

But in this case, I remebered those ecchi scenes just becaue I have read the Tenjho Tenge manga, and the anime is a faithful translation of the manga.
