author topic: Anime reviewers wanted.

Hey folks,
We're looking for 1-2 reliable anime reviewers for GreenCine (to post on GC Guru review site, and here, too). So if you're a hardcore otaku with some writing ability and would like to write 2-3 reviews a month in exchange for a free GC membership, OR if you know someone who fits the bill, let us know. Arigato!

Oh, and You can member mail me or email craig at greencine dot com. Or your anime-watching, writer friend can email at the same. We are open but have plenty of suggestions for intriguing anime DVDs just crying out for a review. Again, the ability to write coherently and know the subject is a big plus. :-)

You should just let Battie and Catullus and Doozer blog about new anime. They can be like the Clik and Clak of GC anime! They can do a Games column too.

I can review Japanese TV shows about food. Do you have any of those videos? Other than Tampopo?

Pft. Blog? Column? We should get our own show. Stream it on the central page. Move over G4, we are significantly less annoying.

I like it, an anime blog! Well if we get people posting about it enough, that's not a bad idea. But for now, we have Guru reviews blog, and that would be a starting place... An anime blog could be more informal, though.

Anyone interested?

I am interested but I get wicked writers block and lose all articulation when under pressure ;_;

I'm not showing my breasts!

I'm interested. But it depends on the anime. You've probably seen the kind of anime I'm into. :) I wouldn't want to watch an anime that holds absolutely no appeal, since I couldn't really rate it properly. As for the ability to write a coherent review, I used to write book reviews for various professional online sites. I still come across some of my reviews in print when I open a book. It's a little weird. :P

What anime DVDs are up for review?

Actually, you don't even need to throw in a membership. I'd do it for free. :) Er, well, provided I either owned the anime or had seen it recently uncut. Heh. Merely saying!

LoL, it was a joke. :P I only watch X-Play, but it's just not what it used to be. :(

It's really open, Battie, though we're more interested in newer stuff and titles that are maybe a little more eclectic or less mainstream. Anime that could use a push, you know? So more Hell Girl and XXXholic than Naruto. But we're open! Short series would be great (easier to manage), or just a new volume in a series is okay, too. Let me know if you have ideas, can PM me or email craig at greencine dot com.

If I get any freebies in the office I'll let you know, too, although they are not too generous with those usually. Occasionally I'll get an anime feature (like I reviewed the recent Appleseed movie)...

Cheers!

Not really a Naruto fan. >_> I tend to go for the other series, like Hell Girl and xxxHOLiC.

Darker Than Black and Moribito are about to start releasing soon, if GC gets them. There's also Devil May Cry (which probably doesn't need a push), Jyu-Oh-Sei box set, When They Cry...I have several anime on the bottom of my list that have no reviews on Greencine yet (beyond the ones you can find in the forums). There aren't too many shorts out there. I can't actually think of any. Jyu is a pretty short series, if I recall.

I've always wanted a "new releases" option when searching categories. It'd be especially helpful in anime. So right now I'm just using Amazon to see what's come out this year, or about to come out.

Let me know if you want me to review one of them.

I was gonna email this question but it seems this might the place as other can learn from the answers....

How many words you want?

Any guidelines/restrictions we need to know about?

I am intriged. Of course, I need a stronger grammar checker than my widdle pea brain can do these days.

Fellow GCitizens, don't be taken in by the promise of freebies and trinkets! Hold out for cold hard cash and benefits!

Battie, how about a When They Cry review to start? That would be fun!

Van (and others), can keep it fairly short. See Guru for examples. Depends on whether reviewing a series or a disc, and all that, but a few paragraphs is fine (500-1500 words is the general range for these reviews). If feeling particularly inspired going long is okay, too. We have expert editors ;-) on hand just waiting to check your grammar and spelling. No other real rules other than try to be coherent and sassy. Reference other anime series for perspective, when possible ("a series similar to but not quite as consistent as_____" or "it might remind you of _____") can help too. Just send me a sample! Cheers.

Yeah When They Cry is only one of the most complex anime out there in terms of plot lol easy way to start right...

You probably don't even need to have somebody review When they Cry, just go back and copy and paste where we've talked about and defended its awesomeness on the boards over and over.

Are you having her review vol 4 or whatever just came out? If so, and you haven't seen it at all, you should really start from the beginning to give it a fair and decent review. Just my thoughts. This is the worst thing to ever start in the middle, and you'd be doing yourself an injustice if you didn't watch it all anyway. It really is the most entertaining and mentally stimulating anime I've seen, and considering how much I've seen I think that's saying something.

LOL, you're right, that's a tough one to start out with. ;-) But Battie started it! And sounds like it would be one that is inspirational to write about. Just an idea...

Um Gurren Lagann anyone?

Or how about the new Bleach movie coming out in a coupla weeks?

I'm sure provided the right amount of orange chicken from Panda Express, you could convince Catullus to do it.

Or I could do one for all the volumes depending on how long you need them to be, and when you need them by. I might not be able to devote much to it until after the 15th (big deadline at work).
