Can anyone recommend any hentai where all the sex is consensual? I'd like to give the genre another chance, but rape and such really don't do it for me.

Hentai anime with all consensual sex? Don't you think you re asking too much?

Anyway, there are many slightly-hentai comedy animes you can try. But the one (and only one) hardcore hentai anime that fits your high standard is "Teacher's Pet".

If you enjoy that one, you may try some hentai comedy animes next, such as the "La Blue Girl" series. There are lots of tentacle sex in there, but it is all for fun and laughter. Hmmm... did I just say that?

P.S. Stop doing it when you need glasses.

I was afraid of that.

Hmmm. Looks interesting.

I also remember quite liking Rei Rei. Urotsukidoji was, er, fun at first too ("Did that hospital just explode in a shower of bright pink semen and waving demon dorks?"), but it gets a bit much after awhile. I guess I get a little creeped out by a genre where a "no rape scenes" requirement tends to narrow the available titles considerably. Must be one o' them cultural hurdles I've heard so much about.

P.S.- What with one thing and another my glasses need glasses at this point.

I agree. After such titles like "Cool Devices" and "9 O'Clock", a nice love story would go a long way. I remember that sometimes people in love actually have good sex. But I guess that is just European romanticism.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't "gentle hentai" be called ecchi?

Now, I don't speak Japanese but from what I gather from reading otaku sites for a couple of years now, "ecchi" would be more like an "R" rated movie, while "hentai" is "X". I think that a hentai title could be gentle yet explicit.

i've only seen a few movies or other stories from japan with ordinary, consensual sex (that wasn't a prelude to mad slaughter). generally the closest the strories come is to alluding to bathing which i understand is a required thing before, uh, i guess intercourse. i once read a book description of a sex study in japan that called the book a landmark because of how hard it was to get information from individuals about sex-related feelings.

even nagisa oshima's sex movies were metaphors for other things.

oh well, kids are born regularly in japan, i'm not worried about them not getting it on over there...

Well, we certainly can't blame the Japanese for that, not after all of the U.S. horror films that slaughtered anyone who had sex!

You might wanna try digging up Magical Twilight or The Elven Bride.

They are both what I'll classify as hentai-light comedy anime. None of them are available from GC, however.

I believe "Masquerade" is another rare hentai anime that can satisfy (heh heh) RHorsman. But it's still on my rental queue so I cannot be sure. I wish some GC staff member is reading this and can do something about it (wink wink).

Not that I watch that much hentai (cough cough), but here's what I would suggest:

Buttobi CPU / I dream of Mimi
Can Can Bunny
Koihime
Tokio Private Police

Okay, I have finished "Tokio Private Police" and can now give my seal of approval. See my review on this title for details.

Just received "Masquerade". Looks very promising so far. Will give my verdit in a few days.

Go to Google and paste in the following search parameters. Make sure you "copy" the following or type it in EXACTLY.

"animeondvd" consensual -"non-consensual" -"nothing consensual" -"nothing is consensual" -"less consensual"

Then go to the bottom of the search results page and click on the underlined bit in italics that says repeat the search with the omitted results included.

You will get all the reviews archived at Anime On DVD for "all consensual" and "mostly consensual" hentai anime, filtering out reviews of works that feature "non-consensual" situations. Some of these are reviews of titles already mentioned in this discussion.

The Anime On DVD site owner is married with 2 children, and his reviews are for the most part very helpful.

I don't know if GreenCine has all these titles or not...

My next recommendation: "Masquerade". See my review for details.

It's easy to include live links in your posts. You have to use html tags, which become invisible once you submit your post to GreenCine.
You also need to find the catalog ID number of the title you're linking to. For example, the web address for Masquerade is http://www.greencine.com/webCatalog?id=14352 . You only need to use the part that says "webCatalog?id=14352". You need to enclose the html tags inside left and right angle brackets.

Masquerade

Try it with Tokio Private Police!

oops. It's hard to show you... What you need to type is

*a href="webCatalog?id=14352"^Masquerade*/a^

except substitute * with a left angle bracket <
and the ^ with a right angle bracket >
