Male male? Female female? Consensual? Non-consensual?

The male male gay anime is categorized as yayoi.

Fake is a well known "gay" title. I haven't seen it myself.

A newer one is Kizuna. Hey, hneline1 seems to screen a lot of these!

Wait for it...

...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yup, it has a team of detectives; one of whom is after the other and the latter is not sure. All that in the context of a trip to England and a murder mystery. It's supposed to be based on the second book of the manga (of 4). It's not bad, more blood than love scenes though. One of my cousins recommended this in the category of "gay pretty boys".

these are anime that I've seen that has yaoi (male-male) elements, in no particular order (sorry, I'm gonna be harsh, it's been a long day!) ;-p

Fake
plot as summarized above.
wouldn't recommend it, silly plot, unbelievable characterizations.

Earthian
Two male angels come to pass judgement on earth and they like each other, until one of them gets interested in another angel.
Disjointed episodes, made no sense, overly angsty, wouldn't recommend it.

Kizuna
Two guys in an established relationship have problems when the younger brother of one of them likes the other.
Didn't see any chemistry, no growth in the characters despite the story taking place over several years, but one of the guys goes into a gay host bar with his professor! ;-p Still wouldn't recommend it.

Descendants of Darkness (Yami no Matsuei)
Two dead guys who work as "grim reapers" to help souls pass from the living to the dead are partners, and they may or may not like each other. But the bad guy certainly like one of the partners.
Haven't seen it all, but this is a fun series if you want light entertainment. I'd recommend it.

Fruits Basket
A romantic comedy about a girl who hangs out with a bunch of very pretty boys who happen to turn into zodiac animals if hugged by a member of the opposite sex.
Besides the fact that all the boys are pretty, Yuki's older brother is FLAMING. Completely. I highly recommend this series (no, not because of the flaming part) (it's just a great series).

Fushigi Yugi
Girl goes into alternate fantasy world and is surrounded by seven pretty boy warriors.
Noriko is a guy in drag who's in love with the Emperor. He's one of my favorite characters in the series. I highly recommend this anime too.

Please Save My Earth
Alien scientists who look surprisingly human are reincarnated on Earth. One of the reincarnated scientists was a woman before, and now she's a boy and wants to re-establish her relationship with her previous male lover.
Silly plot, silly characters, I wouldn't recommend it.

Despite Dpowers kind words, I really don't watch every anime that comes through our doors. ;-) Gotta do my regular job, too!!!

These are yaoi anime that I know of and haven't seen:

Kimera

Level C

And I hear that the following yaoi series are going to be released soon, dunno when:

Gravitation
Boku no Sexual Harassment

And I'm sure there's plenty of other anime out there with gay characters. :-)

and if we're talking yuri (girl-girl) --

El Hazard OVA
Boy gets taken into alternate fantasy world and saves the day. In the alternate world, he looks just like a missing princess, but he's really straight. However, the missing princess has a girlfriend.
This is a really funny series, I highly recommend it, I haven't seen the remakes tho.

Cardcaptor Sakura
Um, there's this weird thing between Sakura and her best friend who worships her and wants to dress her up and takes pictures. Heck, this is a kid's show so nothing obvious happens as far as I know...

I haven't seen Revolutionary Girl Utena or Devil Lady, so dunno about those...

and, I might as well add, there are some conventions dedicated to these genres.

Yaoi-Con in San Francisco

YuriCon in New Jersey

While hneline1 was working on these posts, I was busy on doing a list. Thanks hneline1! I added a couple of your "picks" to my list... "Kimera" and "Level C". I'm not gonna add "Fushigi Yugi", "El Hazard" or "Fruits Basket (despite the title)" because I'm concerned about being politically correct. Cross dressers are not necessarily GAY!

BTW, I recently borrowed the entire manga series of "Please Save My Earth" from a friend (who bought it when she was a teen and still keeps it in pristine condition) and read it beginning to end. The manga is actually coherent and it ROCKS. So get the OST CD for the anime and play it while reading the manga, for the ultimate PSMExperience!

Devil lady had one episode that had f/f action but nothing really overt. For the most part there's just a lot of tension. It's still a pretty interesting series and I can't wait to see the last disc.

I might actually go this as my first con experience, for once I think the ratio of guys to girls will be in my favor :D

True, but cross dressers are not necessary NOT gay. Noriko in "Fushigi Yugi" is definitely a guy in love with another guy, and anguishing over it rather verbally.

Now, the guy in "El Hazard" is not gay, but that's why I included it in the yuri list, because the princess' girlfriend is definitely into girls.

"Fruits Basket", yeah, I don't remember any overt gay relationships, although I think there are enough strong hints about Yuki's brother. Then again, I haven't seen the entire series. Maybe someone else can comment?

First of all, it's Nuriko, not Noriko! And before !!SPOILER!! he dies he reveals that he's been in love with Miaka all along (about episodes 32 and 33, methinks). Did Miaka "convert" him? That would be unPC, too!

Remember, Nuriko began cross-dressing to get over the pain of losing his sister, not because he liked men!

There WAS a bad guy who worked for Nakago who was kind of Sado-Gay, but he was icky.

> "Fruits Basket", yeah, I don't remember any overt gay relationships, although I think there are enough strong hints about Yuki's brother. Then again, I haven't seen the entire series. Maybe someone else can comment?

No need, because I AM a "Fruits Basket" expert having seen the entire series like a million times and cried through all the same scenes with my favorite anime heroine, Hana-chan, over and over. Big Bro Ayame is stereotypically gay but throughout the show expresses nothing beyond loyalty and friendship toward his 2 contemporary cousins, Shigure and Hatori. Except when he's playacting confessional scenes with Shigure just to shock people like naive Tohru. In fact, the episode that takes place in his cosplay boutique strongly hints at more than a employer/employee relationship with his hilarious assistant Mine. There's a cross-dressing cousin, too, that appears later and turns out to be the monkey. He's very slightly gay, but very undeveloped emotionally and his feelings for Shigure is more like a schoolgirl crush.

The closest thing to overt homosexuality may be Hana-chan's protective friendship with Tohru, but Hana is so weird and goth you never really know what she's thinking, beyond the fact that of all the people in the world she is total in her devotion to Tohru. Reminds me a bit of the Tomoyo-Sakura relationship in Cardcaptor Sakura.

I think the first and third DVD's are better for the Muraki/Tsuzuki interactions. Watch them in sequence to see Hisoka become more caring towards Tsuzuki. Overall, there's lots of blood in this series (they are dealing with death afterall).

Revolutionary Girl Utena is worth watching, IMHO. It starts out playing with gender issues and then settles down into being a cryptic-but-formulaic fairy tale (but, you know, formulaic in a good way). I'm very curious to see how it ends. I haven't seen the movie, but I hear the yuri angle is played up a lot more.

And don't forget the most famous yuri couple of all, Sailors Uranus and Neptune (unless they're on American television, in which case they're just cousins, really ...).

the movie goes a little more girl-girl, then leaves for outer space, where sexuality is no longer relevant.

Actually the movie goes a lot more girl-girl (the scene where they start off sketching each other) then they get their car washed, then they outdo the "mammoth car" episode of Speed Racer, then they lose their nipples and lower orifices before driving off to a place where clothes are irrelevant.

Yeah, Neppie and Urrie... Uranus kept saying that her fist was World Shaking!!! :-P

OOPs! There are ladies on this thread. I'm sorry...
