From time to time, we all indulge in anime titles that would get you in trouble with your parents, your spouse, your priest, your kid's school's PTA, your local FBI field office. There are some friggin good titles that just shouldn't exist in a morally just universe. We know this, and yet, we rent or download.

Confess your sins here.

Receive absolution from the MegaDeus...

Cast in the Name of God, YE NOT GUILTY!

Forgive me, MegaDeus, for I have sinned.

I have been downloading Gunslinger Girl. I've tried to stop but now I have all 7 episodes released so far, and I've watched them all, every minute!

The premise of the show can only be described as reprehensible. Little girls who have been terribly injured are brought back from the brink of death. They are made into cyborgs and trained to be super assassins. In exchange for a second chance at life, they have to work for a secret police organization. Each girl is assigned to an adult male agent, who acts as a trainer and field partner as well as a foster parent.

The main character is Henrietta (this is the name given to her when she recovers from her cyborg surgery) who is teamed up with a compassionate young agent named Jose. Henrietta's family was massacred in front of her eyes, then the murderers left Henrietta for dead after assaulting her and using her all night (in episode 2 or 3, Henrietta explains to one of her colleagues that she doesn't have a period because that part of her body is "no longer there"). She uses a big machine-gun that is hidden in her Amati violin case, and for some reason she sometimes flies into berserk mode and kills everyone in sight, even when she has been commanded to keep bad guys alive for interrogation. Henrietta is about 10 years old, I think, and cute as a button. Her fellow assassins are also very cute, and equally deadly.

This show is the bastard child of Kite and Noir. Conceptually, the show has absolutely no redeeming social value, although there are no depictions of sexual situations. And yet the animation, the music, the action sequences, the voice acting, the backgrounds, all are excellent, top-notch. The stories are set for the most part in Italy (in visually famous places like Florence) and a great effort is being made to draw in enough detail to give the atmosphere of the stories a real "presence". This series is also tailor-made to be a video game.

I know I should condemn Fuji Television, Marvelous Entertainment, and Madhouse for producing this sinful series. Yet, I will probably just continue to download and view and enjoy this show.

Risparmi me, dio, amen....

Megadeus help me, I love Hamtaro. I'm nearly 28 years old and we are only expecting our first child, so I have no excuse. But I watch Hamtaro every morning before I go to work, and it makes me so happy. They're just so darn cute.

All right, all right. I confess that I enjoyed watching every single one of the transformation sequences in Shin Cutey Honey - in slow-motion, frame-by-frame.

Hmmm.. ok.. I admit that for a brief period of time, I thought Gundam Wing was the pinnacle of the anime world (~7 year anime withdrawl systems, c'mon...) and built model replicas of ALL of them - even had to call/drive to a different Toys 'R Us to pick some of the rarer ones up. I wish I could sell some of these now though... anyone? anyone?

Hamtaro saved me from a deep dark period of depression a little over a year ago (laid off, recession, Bush Jr., yada yada). And the thing is...every single one of my 20-something students admit to watching the damn thing. And there is not one iota of the hidden innuendo that adults *wink, whink* catch and laugh at while the kids just cruise on by. Its straight up, no holds barred, sugary sweetness.

Forgive me, for I have sinned in the act of regression. I have become a child.

dpowers, the MegaDeus senses that you are mocking his benevolence and HJobgen's faith... however, the MegaDeus takes pity on you, and absolves you of your sins.

Say ten "Hail Ilpalazzo"s, one "Boys Be" and one "Oh My Goddess" and download a fansub!

I also am guilty of watching Hamtaro & enjoying it. I am 42 with no children of my own & yet I have enjoyed this obviously for-kids show. It's cute, fun, and a nice change from mecha, magical girls, bishoujo, samurais, hentai, etc..

Megadus, please forgive me of my sins, for I do like Hamtaro!

Ayato, be not ashamed for Yulia and Lena are the true messengers of the MegaDeus. Their songs celebrate the purity of our purpose.

I think "Paragate" is actually going to be a movie. I only *wish* it were a series -- preferably animated by the same team responsible for Najica: Blitz Tactics. There I've said it -- one of my own guilty pleasures.

And it gets worse. This book, a compendium of popular lay Buddhism and somebody's personal view of all history and philosophy, has been made into this anime. And God help me, I would probably go and watch it even though I can already guess how bad it will be.

Redcoffin, Najica: Blitz Tactics would not be considered a guilty pleasure unless you have the mental maturity of a 10 year old. Rejoice, for you have not sinned.

However, beware of graven images promulgated by wealthy yet craven cults.

Even if you favorite part is the commentary track by Kira Vincent Davis and Moncia Raal on Mission 003 (count me as one of those "pantie-loving men out there" as Moncia says!)???

But truly I have sinned. I watched all of Bible Black and then Bible Black: Second Sacrament and then Bible Black: Origins and even requested that they get disc 4, "Bible Black: Revelations"......and I LIKED IT!

But it did not diminished my love of Pretty Sailor-Suited Warriors and their talking cat in the least.

So, is there hope for me? And was it a high school or a college - the dub and the sub never seem to agree on that.

larbeck, the MegaDeus hears your prayer. However, watching the Bible Black series is not a sin unless you do it just to savor the dialogue.

Thank you, FatherDeus! And let us pray for those souls who did the English dub - for I fear there can be no absolution for that sin!
