| I watched Guy Maddin's Careful last night, which was terrific. Also on the disc was the documentary "Waiting for Twilight". This had some clips from works that had been done by friends of Maddin, some of which looked to be right up my alley; specifically John Paizs' The International Style and a wonderful looking cable access show called "Survival Talk". I've heard Paizs' "Crime Wave" is quite good too (GC's own Gradalis touched briefly on it in the first part of his Maddin interview). Anyone know of a source for VHS/DVD of these? I'm googlin' bupkiss. |

| I'll go with you. Can we swing by Banff whilst we're there? |

Unfortunately, you're both right. John Paizs' films (with the sole exception of Invasion) are woefully unrepresented on disc.
Should you find yourself in Los Angeles, CineFile has a copy of The Big Crimewave. Scarecrow, in Seattle, has it as well. If you're in the mood to rent actual film prints and you have a 16mm projector around the house, Zeitgeist has a collection from the Winnipeg Film Group (which includes two of John's films). Not sure why they haven't released them on video...

Well look at that. I saw We're Talking Vulva years ago, oddly enough. Right before a screening of Poison. I don't have access to 16mm equipment at the mo', but maybe Zeitgeist will get around to doing a transfer at some point.
(Rawk star job on the Maddin interview, BTW.) |

Rawk star job...
Many thanks for the kind words. Believe it or not, the actual interview was even longer. |
