I saw Fat Girl by Feminist Director Catherine Breillat, and was extremely impressed. Movie-as-thesis is classically pretentious and ridiculous, but that's how the movie felt and I liked it! However I thought the movie had its definite faults. She has a number of other movies, and some of the ones that I gather are her most famous ("Romance") are also the most poorly reviewed. So if you're not familiar with the director, I'd recommend to check it out. And if you are, mind telling me what else of hers is worth looking at?
***SPOILERS***
That ending was pretty fucked or what? Most reviews I've seen mentioned that it came out of nowhere and was a weak point to the movie. I disagree, although perhaps being less sensationalistic would have been good??? Anyway, I recall an interview with the director, where she says the ending was written first, then the movie built around the ending, kind of interesting. |

I liked 36 Fillette which was her first film as a director, I think. It seems she took a long time to make any more films... maybe she was working on television? Anyway, you should try Sex is Comedy which is Breillat's fictional autobiographical film about the making of Fat Girl.
I didn't like Romance that much... |

| I liked "Romance" alright. I thought it had a perfect ending, and that always helps my overall impression of a movie. It's on the explicit side, though, so careful who you watch it with. |

| No spoilers from me...I even think it's a spoiler to ask about a character in a movie that no one even remembers : ) You're just gonna have to re-queue that one. |

That'll be good, since right now it looks like your icon's hand is having sex with his nose, and the nose was a virgin! Ouch!

Odd. Wasn't it hamano's mission to spread the...butter?
Barring the revelation of a patented trade secret, could this mission (as he stated) involve one or more of the following equipment/actions?
1) A butter knife. 2) A butterfly knife, a towel, and lots of big black garbage bags. 3) A butterfly collar, leisure suit, strobe lights, and a BeeGee record. 4) The waving of a wand. 5) Good running shoes, an overcoat, and a...flash. 6) Peek-a-boo in the bushes. 7) Faery Dust. 8) Chocolate. 9) Whipped Butter. 10) Spanish Fly. 11) A hug. 12) A warm gun. 13) Religious tract & daisy deliveries. 14) Two-hand-touch mosh pits. 15) A bucket of pheromones and a paintbrush. 16) Cherub testicles and a slingshot. 17) Mono. 18) Feeding The Masses: A Cookbook by Mary Mallon. 19) Public contraception demos. 20) Days of the Week Socks 'n' privacy. 21) Sponsoring Round-Robin Circle Jerk Tournaments. 22) Field trips to Amsterdam's Red Light District and Holistic Brownie Festival. 23) The Totoro Mail-Order & Escort Service |
