I was wondering if anyone on GC could help me track down a copy of a film I saw (part of) the other night. Perhaps it will be useful to have a general thread for such questions, particularly in the foreign section.

Well, my particular question has to do with a Japanese film called Drive. It's from 2002 and I can see no evidence of it having a domestic release on DVD.

The first 45 minutes of this film is hilarious and very well done. I saw it taped from a Japanese channel on cable TV, complete with infomercials and all that. I would love to get ahold of it in unadulterated form.

I may have a region-free DVD player soon but will need English subtitles. Anyone have any leads for me?

Hmm, heard great things about DRIVE ahogue, but alas, we can't seem to track down any copies on DVD - R1 or otherwise. The only one I found anywhere was a Korean disc that was not only not R1 but it was not with any English titles. So, it looks hopeless for the immediate future but I'm sure it will come out eventually. Keep looking and let us know if you find it anywhere before we do!

If you're willing to settle for a similar-sounding substitute, I thought that Adrenaline Drive was a pretty good movie. It's just like Drive, but with more adrenaline, so it has to be better!

Haha...actually I own that film and it is very good. Although the title is (intentionally?) ironic since Adrenaline Drive is actually very measured and you might say lugubrious...but I mean that in a good way.

This director has a somewhat similar feel to the director of Adrenaline Drive and I actually double checked to see whether they were the same person.

Underdog, I will certainly post any information I can find here as to this film's availability on DVD, if I find any. It's very good (well, the first half is) and I hope more people get an opportunity to see it.

Okay, I managed to see the rest of the film and my opinion is about the same. It's a lot of fun. A kind of Buddhist morality play but, you know, funny.
