Here's Midnight Eye's review if anyone's interested, if Tartan does a Region 0 disc like they did for BR1, I'd like to go ahead and put out a request for it. The chances of any US distrubutor touching BR2 anytime soon are probably not real good, to say the least.

If previous patterns are repeated, BRII will not screen theatrically in the U.S. (except for a few festivals). The VCD will probably be available before a legitimate subtitled All-Region disc is released. Though it will be many months before it surfaces here, you can guarantee that we will carry many copies of the film.

Hmmmm...a browse on the web shows a japanese VHS for sale at http://www.jpophelp.com/scripts/proddetails.asp?artist=JAPAN&dnum=200

It probably won't be for a while, but if anybody sees a VCD of this show up at Chinese video stores, please point it out. A lot of cool cult Japanese VCD's do show up, but they usually don't stay on the shelves for long.

On a tangent, has anybody seen the Ko-rean "My Sassy Girl" available as a VCD?

VCD's of My Sassy Girl are available everywhere pretty much (the usual HK/asian VCD/DVD websites). The all-region DVD version, we discussed on

"stocking of Korean movies" topic in the Feedback forum. The long hyperlink just failed and cut my message so I won't bother trying again. Anyway, the all-region DVD arrived from Maylasia (hmm.. fishy) but played well and it was a good price so... what else needs to be said?

We've received numerous requests for this Korean movie, My Sassy Girl. I want to let y'all know that we found copies of the disc. It'll be up on the site in about a week. I'll post another message here when the time comes so that you can add it to your queues.

Thanks for your patience,

Hey snafu... saw it and well, I wouldn't recommend it. Supposedly, the movie is along the weird style of the director and perhaps some people would appreciate it as a weird artistic film but I'd just say it's a slow, fairly pointless low-budget film. Hmm.. considering that I did appreciate some other slow, probably lower-budget films such as One Fine Spring Day and Bungee Jumping of their Own, I guess that means The Isle is just a bad film in my opinion...

Ok good, I feel better now. I kind of missed having a plot but there were some nice scenes in there. Never understimate the small angry asian girl, the look she gives the guy when he hires a prostitue is priceless. Of course the fish hooks bothered me all night long.

And yeah overall I thought it was a pretty bad movie with some shock scenes thrown in for good measure.

I thought it was excellent.

Incredibly atmospheric, strange and moving. If you are into mainstream cinema and don't venture into the realms of stuff like Jodorowski or Cronenberg, then maybe you won't dig it. If you like art films that are twisted as hell, give it a shot. It's not an uplifting film, nor is it for the faint of heart, but it is beautifully made with top-notch acting.
