Anyone else excited about this?

I'm just worried about how the writer's strike has affected this season. Anyone know if we'll be getting a full season? Even a half season? Either way, I can't wait to finally have the most entertaining and aggravating show on television return!

Let the conspiracy theories begin..

They've got eight episodes in the can, instead of the 16 they had planned.

So, who do you think is in the coffin?

I think it's Bob Newhart, and they'll realize the whole thing was a dream!

Seriously, I'm excited about the return, though disappointed because for some reason I thought it was a 2 hr season premiere. Instead there's some dumb looking fantasy show with Jonny Lee Miller.

I am so sick of lost doing this sadistic bull to their fans. Don't tell me there is a two our special when there is it. Don't tell you're going to reveal secrets when you're not. GET TO SOLVING THE MYSTERIES YOU'VE ABANDONED BEFORE YOU CREATE NEW ONES!

Really? I thought the premiere was terrific. It already answered a question, in a way - how many of the Lost people make it back home? Well, six, if "The Oceanic Six" is any indication. We already know Hurley and Jack are two of them, plus whatsherface, "freckles," so there are three more we don't know yet. I also like how in one scene they show people going off with Locke, which you assume is the right direction and then in the next, in the flashforward, Hurley tells Jack, "We should've gone with you." I like that kinda stuff. This one had me riveted.

Plus Jeremy Davies parachutes in! That can't be a good sign can it? Especially if he turns into his character from Rescue Dawn.

You got to be patient with this show, haha. I thought they were going to answer some of the old questions in the premiere , but I guess we'll have to wait a while longer. Instead they brought up even MORE questions....still pretty interesting though. What do you guys think is this big secret that Jack is worried that Hurley will tell?

I was quite disappointed by the premiere. In it's defense, I was doing homework while watching it so maybe I missed something. I don't know, I just didn't like it.

I found it rather fast paced, as opposed to previous Lost episodes that only address a couple things in one episode, and clarifying more..slowly..in episodes later on. This one addressed everything at hand..without any kind of clarification on ANYTHING AT ALL. I mean..9 months is a long time for a fast paced episode that tells you jack (not jack as in Jack from the show, but jack as in..you know).

Plus I'm pissed that Charlie died. I MEAN COME ON!

I thought it was clear Charlie died at end of last season, but then again... is he really a figment of Hurley's imagination, or is he actually there...? {cue sinister music}

Well, anyway, I thought it was great myself.

A good post about it here, btw: Variety Season Pass: 'Lost From a Rock to a Hard Place'

Dominic Monaghan wanted off the show, so I think Charlie is really dead.

Hugo just sees things, including invisible Jacob, apparently!

are they really off? I keep thinking Hurley's gonna open the door and be back on the island. it's all smoke and mirrors!
(or not. But if it is, I get credit for calling it)

but yeah. It's back. It's that drug we just can't quite kick. But I swear, eight more and I'm quitting for good! i'll get a sponsor this time... join a 15-step program...

Best thing that ever happened to Lost was the off'ing of Nikki and Paulo, and they did it in such a grand 'ole way! Burying them alive in a flashback episode that reminded us of all our favorite moments from season 1.. genius. Haha.

As for the season premiere. I was mad to find myself duped into the whole 2-hour premiere business. Tsk tsk. Despite that, I now remember what it's like to be antsy all week to watch a great show again.

I hate "Lost" yet I cannot miss it. I am soooo addicted, it is such a demonspawn of a story with the wave after wave of mysteries that are never solved, only a crumb here and a crumb there. But the acting is so good and the characters so well drawn, I have to watch.

I don't think it is a dream or nightmare, a la "Bob Newhart" or "Roseanne" but I do suspect the people of the Oceanic Air could be plugged up into a Matrix. Certainly, there is a lot of money and expensive to play these sinister games. And reality get so hacked to bits in this world.

I wish I could a condom big enough to fit my head when I watch it. But I cannot stop.

As long as no one gets between me and the next episode of "Lost", no one will get hurt.

And alas for poor Charlie. He will be so missed. Or will he just be rebooted back in this Matrix?

I will be tuned...I have to see who the Other Three are and what happens to the rest? And if any of the Oceanic 6 do get back.

Or wait under the Babylon 5 maintenance drug program is restarted.

Underdog:
It was very clear, but I'm still unhappy about it.

Empress:
I'm a psych major so the whole premise of Lost is captivating to me. Charlie's character was interesting to me because of the heroin addict being forced into detox on some creepy island. I liked his character development with Claire and Aaron. He replaced one addiction with the other, in typical addict fashion - but his devotion was sweet. I personally think he had an underrated role.

Vanamonde I think? Whoever doesn't like Lost:
I am/was the same way. I did not even give the show a minute of my time until the second season was finished. I have an illness that debilitates me sometimes and one of the times it caused me to be bedridden for a short period of time and left me with little to do (while this would normally be otherwise known as "video game time" I am sometimes left without energy to even do that). A friend of mine who had been trying to get me to watch Lost since the first episode brought his 1st season DVD set to me and said "hey, you're stuck in bed and not doing anything anyway..give it a shot..if you don't like it just fall asleeP" so I did. I could not stop watching it after the first episode. I fought to stay awake just to see what would happen next. Rather than actually sleep like I was supposed to, I just paused episodes to catnap so I could watch it again. It's sick. I have a sick sad addiction. I read somewhere that they're only in it for a couple more seasons, after which I'm going to need intense detoxification.

Hmm... I also hate Claire and her baby, therein lies the problem. lol. It also physically disgusts me that Charlie is/was dating Evageline Lily/Kate in real life.

And I agree with whoever said the thing about Niki and Paulo, you are 100% correct. Biggest mistake ever made by the lost writers. Everything about how those characters were introduced or should I say interjected to how they were killed was just plain bad writing. I know they revealed some secret when they died but by that point I was just so annoyed that they got their own flashback episode that I didn't care, I can't even remember what it was.

LOL. Yea, nothing will budge me from the couch on Thursday night for the rest of the season, such is the curse of Lost. Actually there was a really funny article about it: I Have An Abusive Boyfriend and He Comes Home Tonight at 8: Lost.

My work blocks Facebook and MySpace so I can see that page tonight but that title is sooooo great and so right now.

Nice to know I am not the only one.

I thought the season premiere was great. It was nice to open with a Hurley-centric episode and that was appropriate in order to pay proper tribute to the departed Charlie. I won't miss Charlie because he never got any good plot lines anyway.

All those flashbacks were getting boring and now the flash-forwards are intriguing.

Ha! That's pretty funny, and thanks to the writer's strike, even more painfully true when Lost ducks out after only eight episodes.

The skeleton of a polar bear with a Dharma Initiative collar in an archaeological dig!? Are the island and its inhabitants existing in the past? Or did the polar bear get sent to the past?

It is a real pleasure to have Jeremy Davies on the island. It's always fun when he shows up in a movie. Besides, I've said in the past that the Lost island could be Solaris-like, physically manifesting people and things from the minds of the inhabitants, and who should show up but one of the actors from the remake. Heh heh.

On the other hand, theory-wise -- after this episode it seems like time travel is definitely in the mix.

Funniest moment for me: when given the opportunity to get info out of Ben, Locke blurts out "what is the smoke monster?" giving voice to one of the questions on every viewer's mind.
