In this week's episode the chefs worked in pairs to create 1 dish (for a 5-course meal) inspired by a movie. The audience was a dinner party hosted by film critic Richard Roper (glad he at least still has a job).
Most of the picks were lame ***spoiler alert!***
Willy Wonka - smoked salmon with faux caviar and a wasabi-white chocolate sauce Good Morning, Vietnam - See bass Spring Rolls (UGGGGGH is this really the best you can do Top Chefs?!) Talk to Her - duo of lambchops in some sauce Il Postino - tortellini and pasta Top Secret - some awesome looking seared beef dish with two sauces A Christmas Story - quail (they didn't have duck in the store) with candied cranberries, some crazy sauce, a spring roll, served in the holiday spirit
One chef admitted to only haven seen 2 movies in the last 3 years so admittedly there were some fish out of water. But not us GreenCiners! What would you have made for this challenge?
I would have made something BIG that was shrunken small with a little honeycomb, inspired by "Honey I Shrunk the Kids". Maybe crawdads, which could be considered little shrunken lobsters (they're called lobster in China!) with a sweet/spicy sauce. |
