With so many genres, styles, and myriad titles unique to the horror genre, we and our pals over at Red Scream Films thought it was high time we created a Horror Talk forum on GreenCine. Welcome all!

Feel free to discuss everything from your favorite new horror creation to up-and-coming-horror production companies to the really freakish stuff you've seen on screen you can drum up here. I know that I'd like help adding to my list of must-see horror movies soon releasing, including:

The Orphanage
The Mist and
Cloverfield

So good to look forward to being scared silly in the upcoming weeks. Aah.. the horror of it all :).

But is there anything scarier than the fact that Uwe Boll has another film coming out? I saw the trailer for this POS Lord of the Rings rip off and had to look away in horror. (Burt Reynolds is in it!) For God's sakes, make him stop... stop before it's too late!

(Good piece: How Does Uwe Boll Keep Making Movies?")

Hi everyone! The fine folks at Greencine and Red Scream (hey, that kinda rhymes) were kind (and wise) enough to invite me in to manage the horror section of this fine forum.

Some of you horror freaks might know my name from sites like Cinematical, FEARnet, eFilmCritic, DVDTalk, and a few others. If so, that's very flattering. Thanks.

I have a few pretty cool (but fairly basic) ideas to keep the conversations humming here on the GC/RS horror board, but obviously you should feel free to bring up ANYthing that has to do with the horror stuff. Good films, rotten crap, classics, Uwe Boll, Hammer, classic Universal, Freddy and Jason, Leprechaun and Chucky, stuff you can't wait to see, stuff you just saw that sucks. Oh, and my favorite: Something semi-obscurish that you want to recommend to other folks. Those are the best.

For example, One Missed Call is amazingly rotten, and the video sequel White Noise 2? Not half bad!

As far as my "forum moderator" work goes, all we ask is that you stay on-topic in individual threads, perhaps do a quick search before posting something about a film that may have been discussed recently, and (of course) argue nicely. Having browsed through the other GC forums (ok fine, FORA), I highly doubt there will be any nastiness here.

Anyway, thanks again for inviting me on board. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from hardcore movie maniacs such as yourself.

Kwel. Just wanted to say that "Thirteen (2002)" with Holly Hunter, Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed is the scarest movie I have ever seen. I have daughters.

But it was John Carpenter's "The Thing" that teaches us that KY jelly comes in five gallon buckets. A masterpiece.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm guessing "The Teeth," a movie about vagina dentata, bites the big one?

I'm a little embarrassed that I had to look up what "vagina dentata" meant, but happy to see that the definition was what I had imagined it to be: Vagina Dentata for dummies! Is it bad that it makes me think of the chomping flower thingies from Mario World?

No, especially because when you say "chomping flower thingies" I get to mention Little Shop of Horrors :)

Contest Alert!!

And now Red Scream Films and GreenCine proudly announce a cool new contest. All you have to do is post at least twice on GreenCine's new Horror forum, sponsored by Red Scream, and you'll be automatically entered to win a copy of Prison of the Psychotic Damned on DVD.

Please send an email to contest@greencine.com, including your name, email address and your GreenCine username, and Red Scream Contestin the subject header. We'll scan the Horror boards to make sure you posted there, pick one winner and send you a note along with the DVD! Entries without all this information will not be considered. The deadline is January 31st. Winner will be notified by e-mail and announced in a future edition of the GreenCine Dispatch newsletter.

Just a reminder about this - official deadline is today but if you post through the weekend that'll count too! The posters with the mostest will win a copy of this film. Only 9 months to Halloween!
