This True Life Horror has got to give the Greenciners the heebie-jeebies. Good thing this criminal has a preference for red, the commoner. I still think the max sentence is too short.
Greencine, have you reviewed your business insurance lately? |

The story about the $1,000,000 prize was the top hit on Google, so I was confused for a moment, and then my eyes wandered down to the true horror.
There's an old thread around here somewhere in which we used to fantasize about what the letter carriers were up to with our DVDs.
Oh, here it is: You know your mailman is watching your DVDs when... |

This thread is hilarious!
I heard about this mail theft story. To go to jail for stealing DVDs when you could have just rented them, or even downloaded them from the internets - instead, 5 yrs of prison time. Sad stuff. |

The first version I saw said the stud stole 30,000 DVDs. Later I found a correction, that was 3000.
I propose one year for each one that is out of print, and two if it was Anime. But thet won't let me on juries, damnit

Here is a paraphase of an piece of a copyrighted news submitted under Fair Use:
SEPTEMBER 22--A postal worker who stole more than 3000 DVDs mailed by Netflix to its customers pleaded guilty yesterday to federal theft charges. Myles Weathers, who worked at a mail processing and distribution center in Springfield, Massachusetts, was nabbed last year for the video heist after Netflix officials became suspicious about the frequency with which DVDs were being pinched. Weathers, 49, was subsequently arrested after surveillance footage showed him removing DVDs from Netflix envelopes and placing the discs into his backpack.
A plea agreement valued the recovered 3012 DVDs at $36,471. Weathers, now a former government employee, is scheduled to be sentenced on December 23. While his felony plea carries a maximum of five years in prison, sentencing guidelines call for a term of about a year in custody. |
