I get all my tips from our friends at Film Radar, who put together a great newsletter every week on the what's happening around the town. They break down specialty viewing by venue and update their calender constantly.

A few highlights from this week's newsletter:

"MARIO BAVA: POEMS OF LOVE AND DEATH now playing at the Egyptian Theatre March 13th - 23rd. There will be prize giveaways, famous guests and Bava fans including directors Joe Dante and Eli Roth, rare titles and more"

"WE'RE NOT DRESSING starring Carole Lombard and Bing Crosby at the Old Town Music Hall. While the venue is a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth paying a visit. This theatre really needs to build it's audience, so please try to get down there and see this unique and lovely place for yourself"

I can't wait until they start showing horror movies at the cemetery again during the summer, and I still haven't caught a Silent Film at the Silent Film theater down the street from me!

I've been to the Silent Movie Theater several times and it was always a great experience, with a guy accompanying the film on piano and everything. I've seen Keaton and Chaplin films there.

Oddly enough, I actually got to see the two Johns from They Might Be Giants there, they were interviewed by Susan Orleans for the The New Yorker magazine, and they played a few tunes.

But what the heck is going on with the Silent Movie Theater now? It looks like they're just showing silent movies on Wednesdays. I guess they probably weren't making it on silent movies alone.
