I saw a preview on one of the anime movies I rented (forgot which one) and it looked pretty cool. Kind of like the Final Fantasy movie, but not overdone. Melded the CG and (close to live) action really well.

It's not opening in my area this week. The closest theater appears to be in New York, and I don't know if I want to drive four hours to see it. But then, there's this review I found on Yahoo:

Wow, this movie was great. All the stuff happened that had the other stuff. mind blowing. And then when it couldent get any better, the person did that cool thing and i was all like WOAH! and stuff. It was hot. scratch that: was hawt.
SMOKE!
As far as oscar worthy, majic 8 ball says "Ask again later", so cant put my 2 cents out there for that one yet. but ill lets the world know (later).
SMOKE!
Deffinatly worth the $ to go see, imo.
WHY ARNT YOU SMOKING YET!
So if you get the chance, see it. Has crazy stuff and other stuff. yea.

After reading that, perhaps it IS worth the drive...

I saw it. Amazing visual effects, beautiful to watch, not as pretentious as GITS 2. But really wonky. Bad dailogue mapping. And forget plot. Although truer to Shirow's manga than the original ova, the story makes no sense. So if you do see it, just enjoy it for what it is.

At least we find out what 'appleseed' stands for.

Advance promotional posters, large events scheduled, enormously exciting Denmark
Abnormal "pokemon" problems: light effects spark emergency epileptic disorders
Always play Playstation like each second encompases events divine.
Alice plays pipes late every summer evening, ever depressing.

Would that I could. I am still in the Bay Area, freezing my keester off, packing. And eating all the food I know I can't get (affordably) over THERE.

And the sad truth is that I probably won't be able to post once I finish my subscription. Coming to an end soon. Y'all will be missed, don't you ever doubt that!--JellyB

How long has it been since your tearful goodbye? We all thought you were really gone then... but you were secretly sticking around to see who made fun of you behind your back, weren't you?

Yeah, J. Hurry up so we can make fun of you in front of your back. That didn't sound right. How about "to your face", then again, if he wasn't around, how could it be "to his face"? I'm ...

UPDATE - ANIME NEWS NETWORK reports (04/14/05) that JOHN WOO will be producing APPLESEED #2.

(lets see if this is the same as what TARANTINO did for HERO. WOO may just be a backer and co-produce)
