Wow, the local 17-plex is showing 19 films this weekend! A couple only show very late night on screens showing kids films during the day, but still, it's a different movie on each screen, something I haven't seen in a while. They're usually churning 5 or 6 blockbusters on multiple screens.... I thought IGOR (which was cute but forgettable) would stick around until Halloween, but whoosh! it's gone.

A good mix of genres, too. I'm probably taking the kids to see Ember, but what's everyone else seeing? What's good? I've heard lukewarm reviews of the new Ridley Scott film...

The damn chihuahua movie is still showing... did anyone SEE that? My wife Mao-mama had promised to take Kboy but he let her off the hook when I took Mao-chan and a friend to see IGOR and he decided to tag along....

I plan to see Burn After Reading, City of Ember (at least for the Steampunk aspect), and maybe Quarantine and maybe Rocknrolla.

I will, however, not be seeing anything with Shia LaBeouf in it ^_^

I'm interested in Quarantine, but have not seen one review of it yet. Some friends saw Religulous and had fairly positive things to say about it.

Next week Oliver Stone's "W." comes out. Sounds like it's worth seeing primarily for Josh Brolin's performance. But I'm more excited about Miike's "Sukiyaki Western Django" which also starts next week.

tell me about it, he ruins everything he is in... I cant stand that guy... and it pisses me off that he has legions of fan girls who will keep his no talent ass popular. He could not act his way out of a wet paper bag.

I like your idea better that way we can stop people from trying to help him by saying "wait! hes only acting like he is suffocating" >_>

I was going to go see Quarantine tomorrow. I saw Eagle Eye, movie-God forgive me. It'd have made a good video game, but the plot belonged in an early 90's Arnold Schwarzenegger film. But without, you know...charm and talent.

There's actually 26 films playing at the theater I go to. O_O It has 30 screens. The Dark Knight still has showings, hahaha.

It will be his most convincing role yet! Ok if you're still in the bay area, I'll be there the weekend of the 24th for something that doesn't involve suffocating no talent actors. I'll bring a plastic bag, you find out where he lives. That's a fair division of the work yes? My math is skewed due to the 2 liters of beer I just drank. What...I got to keep the big glass if I finished it.

D: I didn't get to drink this weekend. I was out of liquor. :( I went by the liquor store at 10:25pm and it was closed. On a Saturday night! Massive fail.

But seriously...Eagle Eye is probably one of the top five dumbest movies I paid to see this year. It ranks up there with The Chronicles of Narnia 2.

Hey, I thought Narnia 2 was pretty good, with that.... the... OK, I can't remember anything about it.

Wasn't there, like a prince or something?

Here are a few I'm looking forward to:

Happy-Go-Lucky - Yay, Mike Leigh!

Let the Right One In - This is supposed to be a really good vampire movie.

Synecdoche, New York - Maybe a Charlie Kaufman misfire, but it should be interesting.

Peur(s) du noir - Animated horror from six graphic artists.

The Road - The book was great. It will be tricky to capture the right tone in the film.

Well last night was supposed to be DINNER but dinner happened to be at a microbrewery that was serving beer in liters, if you bought one you got to keep the glass. It was only 4 dollars more than their normal size and my friend said "I bet you can't finish one of those and walk out of here" and I said "b***h I'll drink two!". The challenge was laid out. With Eye of the Tiger playing in my head, I drank my two liters. I didn't really want to drink because I'm supposed to go to a bachelar party tonight (wat? who gets married on a Tuesday, and why am I -a woman who is not a stripper - invited). I don't like drinking more than one night in a row anymore. I'm either getting old, or cheap.

I would not see Eagle Eye if somebody told me they would shoot me in the face if I didn't.

I think I'm going to see Appaloosa (sp?) or whatever it is sometime this week but I can't tell you what it's about. Not because it's a secret, I just can't remember.

You can also rent that new Miike film on GC in a month, too, if you can't find it in theaters: Sukiyaki Western Django.

As for me, I'm going to finally see the Spike Lee WWII film, despite the mixed reviews, because it has some similar themes to a script I've been working on for years and I'm curious about it. Or at least feel I should see before expressing an opinion. (Fancy that.)

Also want to see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, partially because I like the two young leads and also liked director Peter Sollett's first film. There are a lot of films out right now that I could definitely wait for DVD for, like The Duchess, Appaloosa...

Has anyone seen City of Ember yet?

What Happened looks like it might be fun.

The Changeling looks like Oscar-baited torture to me -- pass.

Oh and the Charlie Kaufman film, Synecdoche, New York, can't wait. Might see that this week, actually.

I can't wait for that vampire flick, too, Cinenaut! Heard great things.

The Road will be a tough sell but I'm definitely intrigued after reading the book. Which was so bleak but so great.

My dad liked the Mike Leigh movie (saw it at the MVFF last week) but I've heard from a lot of people that the main character is hard to take. I'm certainly curious, though.

I saw Quarantine. Damn you, Blair Witch Project! Damn you to hell! >:|

Quarantine is basically a rip off of 28 Days Later (red eyes, really?). However, since most movies are rip-offs anyway, that's fine. What's not fine is the shaky-as-hell camera. I know they had a sea-sickness warning for Cloverfield, but Quarantine should've had it. The more anxious the characters got, the more the camera shaked. Not simply moving with the guy holding it, but literal shaking of the camera. I was nauseous and had a headache within an hour. My eyes still hurt. I didn't have that reaction to Cloverfield. And the main chick screaming and hyperventilating when she should've been quiet made me want to punch her in the mouth. Seriously, this movie has TSTL written all over the characters. Save maybe Jay Hernandez, who, as always, is foiiine. :D Only positive about the flick.

Why do I always seem to choose such stupid movies to go see? Man, I shoulda gone to see The Dark Knight. :(

On the plus side, last's night viewing of The Beast Within is still making me giggle, so I'm not too upset. Now if IFC would just show Humanoids from the Deep, I'd be perfect.

My roommates and I made a horror movie drinking game out of that.

Whenever a girl cries, screams, or freaks out....drink!

...I'd have gotten alcohol poisoning. I kid you not.

Wait, what happens if she's screaming and hyperventilating for an entire 20 minutes? Or longer?

Well it's a drinking game so you tailor the rules to your convenience, or what your sober mind can remember.

Hell when we watched Poseidon I said drink everytime someone gets wet.
