If this is already a thread... sorry.

Request;
1. I would like a Already Watched Notification when renting Alert,,, when I look at films to rent,,, plus date I rented to show up when renting a film.

2. Also a way to export the data of my rental list into my own personal movie rental list...
(So data file of movie rentals and date...)

note in the 80's and 90's
I used a movie book to handwrite down a movie i rented and my own review... in shorthand,,,
what did you do?

One of the suggestions we had a couple of years ago was a window that would pop up to say, "This film is already in your Rental History... would you like to rent it again? YES/NO"... right now if you click rent on something that is already on your queue, you get a window that says "This DVD is aleady in your queue at position #xxx. Would you like to open your queue?" or something like that.

Of course this won't help if you rented the film before from Blockbusters or something. I can't ever remember renting/seeing a film a second time because I forgot seeing it the first time, though. Does this happen a lot?

Just to add, viewing your "rental history" is the only way you can tell if you've already rented a certain movie. Of course, who wants to sift thru their rental history. My only suggestion is to rate all of the movies you've rented, especially if you haven't written a review about it. That way, when you click on the movie to look at its synopsis, you'll know you've already rented it because you'll see that you rated it.

Besides, GC really has no vested interest in telling you that you've already rented this or that movie x amount of times. In any event, who are they to tell you how many times you should rent a particular movie? As long as you're paying for it, everything's kosher, right. If you're renting an older/dated film every so often it only means that you're freeing up the popular titles for the rest of us because you're not requesting it. Sorry if this seems harsh, it's just reality. :(

Sensei, I believe Father Time has finally caught up with you. He's nipping at my heels as I speak.

what i would like is a rent/watch button that has a different form for movies i've already seen, like maybe having a doubled arrowhead, "-rent->" versus "-rent->>". this would be for lists only. for the main page of the show, something like "recently rented by amazinglyTastefulUser": "you last rented this title on 3/18/04."

I've only rented a movie having forgotten I've already seen it a few times. "8 women" and "Things you can tell just by looking at her". And a few topless flicks which tend to all run together. Before NF and GC I'd have thought it impossible for me to rent a real movie (topless flicks don't count) and forget I'd seen it, but I guess with movies coming in a steady stream rather than as a conscious choice it's easier to not draw an immediate associate with a movie title.

I wouldn't think a "already rented" function would be the most pressing concern but I do know people have different memory and thought processes and it could be useful-- certainly couldn't hurt, and would be easy enough to invoke.

To me this is essential!

Here's how i order movies from greencine: i go to e.g., the "russian" film index, hit the "rent all" button and move on... should i be more selective and then bitch about a lack of availability? no. this is a perfectly legitimate way to shop greencine, but... how will i ever know if ive rented the movie before?--basically, because i CANNOT now know, I will only go to the russian film index ONCE... and this means that greencine has a limited time having me as a customer... if i could be assured of getting fresh titles my experience goes on and on and on...
