I just got Lynch's Eraserhead in the mail yesterday (yay! What a beautifully done transfer that was). It came in a plastic protective case. And I was curious, is this something you are switching to, or just something you do for DVDs that are hard to come by? Either way, thanks for being a service that actually /has/ this DVD in stock.

Ah, someone noticed!
Eraserhead is a coveted title, hard to obtain, etc. We are extra careful about it, so we are using the plastic green cover (we call them c-shells) to send it out in order to ensure that it doesn't break on its way to you. You will be seeing these c-shells with a few other titles as well.
Just make sure that you send a c-shelled DVD back in the same envelope it came in - the c-shell requires extra postage. Thanks!

it's one of the few new packaging that we're testing. we use it for titles that are rare and/or sensitive. so to everyone who gets a disc that's packaged in this case, please make sure you return them in the same case and put them in the envelope with extra postage.

thanks!

giselle, meet michele
michele, giselle

I have exchanged email with you both, nice to be running into you both here. Hey, have you ever heard the David Letterman joke about having Uma Thurman and Oprah Winfrey on the same show?

Uma, meet Oprah
Oprah, Uma

I wonder if David Letterman will ever be funny? Hey, I am just as unfunny as him, how come I can get a late night show on TV???

(we call them c-shells)
Yes, we do. The company that makes them calls them c-shells, too. Convert your entire CD collection at home! Imagine the space that you'll save. They come in many colours as well.

As Michele and Giselle already mentioned, we're trying a variety of new devices to discover if it slows the USPS's steady destruction of our inventory. Your comments, as always, are absolutely appreciated.

Well I have to watch it a few more times to get it into my blood! But rest assured I will re-insert it into the fold soon enough.

It is a pity that it costs an extra stamp to use the cases. Like the other person said, it would really help in the battle of attrition. Maybe it would help if you switched to metered postage instead of stamps?
