If you could be ANY anime character and could live that life in that particular universe which would you choose and why?

BTW if you say Tenchi you are for a fact an unoriginal bastard.

Kasuga Kyosuke from Kimagure Orange Road would be my choice.
why? because he has ESP powers and a love triangle with two awesome female characters. So fun esp powers, choice of madoka or hikaru = win.

Why I didn't choose ranma or keitaro (while changing sexes and EXPLOITING it by getting guys to buy you things and by entering in female dressing rooms would = win) ranma has way too much girl trouble for it to even be a consideration. Not only does he have so many girls fighting over him, but jealous guys are always trying to beat him up too, not to mention his weird and wacky family. Too stressful lol keitaro while in a very enviable situation gets beat up too much to make it worthwhile/fun either :P

Kamina of Rahxephon I didn't choose because its just too confusing :P

This should make for an entertaining thread IF any anime fans actually play along (go off topic about real life and ill throw eggs at you!) and of course this could have been done before (I didn't pay attention) but oh well dont care, its time for a redo anyway.

Ummm...Funny thing. All the characters that came to mind were dudes. >_> Maybe I really do hate my breasts.

No, seriously. I want to be...the main character from Kyo Kara Maoh! Okay, that's cheating on the dude thing. ;) But really! All the pretty men...!

Dark Schneider. He's evil and an almost-good guy. I LOVE that. And he has powers and sex appeal. I could look at myself in the mirror all day!

I don't understand the anime universes enough to actually what to be any of the lucky ones. So I'm going to say Hodji (sp.?) the raccoon demon in Inu Yasha because he's both cuddly *and* intelligent looking and I'd like to wear his clothing which looks comfortable.

Or maybe agent Aika because a water world and salvaging would be fun. Also if I had nice breasts like hers I'd flaunt them every chance I could. (Battie, I'll trade you ;) ) But probably the blonde guy on R.O.D. I'd love to be suave and cool in all circumstances and work with libraries/books/information/intelligence.

No, definately Hodji because I'm hoping that'll be the most unlikely and unusual answer on this thread. (Kilala would be pretty cool though.)

I'd agree.. Madoka is... mmmm Madoka. Ok, shut down fan boy status now.

Do we have to BE these characters all the way through to their personalities? OR, do we get to keep OUR current personaly in tact? I ask cause as Ranma, I would not be such a jerk, and I'd be more forward in telling the rest of those girls: HEY LOOK, IM SPOKEN FOR :)

And yeah, the ability to experience both sides... well, it would help in understanding woman problems.. like Batties :)

As for an official answer: I'd actually have to spend some time really thinking about that... I want to be able to logistically answer such a very important question. Hmm, that almost sounded sarcastic: it's not... I really need to think about this!

If I was Hadji on Johnny Quest I'd be able to hang out with that cute Johnny and those two hunky older guys... Sure they are gora but they have such fun adventures!

Yeah youd pretty much be living their lifes... just think of you in their body taking on quite a bit of their personality traits I guess. You can't just go around doin whatever you want cuz you read the manga and know how it turns out in the end lol.

So yes you could still make choices but consider them uninformed choices. Like im sure ranma at 16 has no idea if he wants to spend the rest of his life with akane and its pretty hard for him to get ANY time to actually think about it because he lives a pretty crazy life with crazy characters (thats what makes the anime so good) So while you could be you in their body (obviously have to have their skills) and living their life, I guess pretend like if you were in that role of the character youd be limited to his knowledge of his environment and the people he knows.

I've now found out the spelling is "Hachi" and
he is a tanuki, not a raccoon. Tanuki are native
to Japan, look a bit like a large racoon and have
large testicles. (Wheee!) I just thought his outfit
looks comfortable *and* sophisticated...............
...........................................................
I guess I like the oddball minor characters. I guess
I empathize with his intelligence yet cuddly non-sexiness
and being a minor character not given enough screen time.
......................................................................
Hadji in Johny Quest would be fun too.

I'm leaning toward a couple of the girls in Azumanga Daioh. I like fun without too much angst. Or perhaps a member of the Prince Yuki Fan Club in Fruits Basket except that I don't think I could ever crush so deeply on a guy who obviously look so much like a girl... oh wait, I like Kurama of Yu Yu Hakusho... never mind.

Of course, there's always Sota in Inu Yasha. He gets to have a taste of Kagome's adventures with Inu Yasha without putting his life (for the most part) or his academic career on the line.

No, I *was* trying to be helpful but maybe it is your browser. The text says:

And it should have the following (http://www.wot-club.org.uk/Inuyasha/images/vols/v11e.jpg) as background:

Ha! Play it safe. I like it! A bit like hachi: hang around, never get involved, have a few insights, wear comfortable clothes, be the group ride, and be cuddly. That's me right now! Don't know why I'd hang around that dang foppish monk though. Never did like thin pretty boys with straight dark hair and bedroom eyes, dang 'em.

Also sort of like the moth demon I saw today. Pretty clothes and pretty features. Drawn to flames. But why fangs? Moths don't have fangs.... No, still sticking with hachi.

Since you like Hachi and seem to like the idea of tanukis' huge testicles, you should watch Pom Poko. In it, tanukis use their testicles as weapons and attack people with them. They also transform in all sorts of strange ways. It gets pretty bizarre.

Perhaps most strange is that this movie was made by Studio Ghibli (the same folks who did Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke), but it was directed by the "other" guy at Ghibli, Isao Takahata.

Oh, as for who I would like to be, I'm leaning toward Morita from Honey and Clover.

Well, .... not really. I'm embarrassed to admit, I thought Hachi was a racoon (all the english translations make him a raccon; I read there was some cultural difference and he was something called a tanuki but I figured that was a type of supernatural entity that was somehow different than the generic "demon" which everyone else seems to be). I liked Hachi because he was sort of odd (none of the other demons really were animal like, except killalla who is an animal) and a minor character and I liked his clothes. I chose him to be the most unlikely character named on this thread. (I mean when folks could chose to be a playboy with superpowers and a harem of women, or a god, or who knows what all, who'd choose a walking racoon in comfy clothes who never does anything?) To find *after* choosing him, that tanukis have large testicles was a fun bonus!

> In it, tanukis use their testicles as weapons and attack people with them. They also transform in all sorts of strange ways. It gets pretty bizarre.

That does sound odd. But if "The tanuki -- a badger-like creature often portrayed with big round eyes, a large Buddha-like belly, and long pendulous testicles resting by its feet -- is a beloved figure in Japanese myth, viewed both as a fun-loving bringer of fortune and a shape-changing [d'oh, now I get why Hachi can be that balloon like thing. By the way, what is with the excessive shape-shifting and alterior form that seems to be obiquitous in anime?] trickster"-- if the tanuki is a well-known mythical figure, would this be bizaar to the japanese? Would this be equivalent to an american cartoon about a field of leprichauns falling prey to urban sprawl? Of course there is the idea that testicles are a taboo subject for kiddies and all European horrible mythical baddies with naughty bits (hmmm, can't really thing of any that are defined by naughty bits, although harpies had women's breast that milked blood) were sanitized 150 years ago, but if the tanuki wasn't and its a well known fairy tale image...

Oh, I once read (only once) that fur trappers used to have a myth/superstition/belief that the beaver when agitated would remove and throw his testicles at his enemies. It is believed that this a symbolism of Christ's dictum to forego attachement to material possessiongs (In much the same way that a rose's thorns were believed to symbolize the inevitable suffering in life, and honey was to symbolize the providential reward for industrious virtue). I wonder if there is any connection.

For me, it's Morisato Keiichi barely edging out Kasuga Kyosuke..

But how does one choose between a world with Belldandy (manga one) or one with Ayukawa? I absolutely detest those annoying "Dahlings" from Hikaru so that'll be the deciding factor. Peorth ain't a bad addition either :)

Hmmm, maybe Himeno from Pretear she gets to hang around with two beautiful men that adore her, her father married into wealth but not the shallow kind, she is always happy, has magical powers, wears really cool outfits, and she has a knight inside her every episode...oops, no pun inteded.

Who am I kidding if I lived in a world where I could make out with InuYasha, Miroku or Sesshomaru I would do it in a minute so I wouldn't mind being any of those respective ladies.

But then there is Ayato form RahXephon... but their lives are too depressing.
