oh but for whatever its worth (probably not much) I do sympathize with you on the problems you are having as the result of that fire. I can totally imagine what a nightmare it must be dealing with insurance companies. Thats got to suck.

Thanks Cat. Fortunately our insurance company and our fire restoration contractor seem to be pretty with it, and so far the process is going very smoothly. I hope that my neighbors who lost pretty much EVERYTHING they owned except for their cars are faring as well.

It WAS a rather traumatic and stressful experience, hence my grouchy outlook this week.

FYI, National Public Radio's Talk of the Nation Science Friday had a feature on technology and good design (a lot of happy Mac fans phoned in). Maybe it explains better what I'm talkin' about.

Apple brought out some incredible new iPods today! And they slashed the price of the 8GB iPhone from $600 to $400! I'm predicting that this will negatively impact Apple's holiday sales because people won't be able to choose which fabulous iPod to buy. Should I get the iPhone, or the touchscreen iPod? OMG, I can't decide.

Which iPod are YOU?

the ipod that doesn't need itunes to place music on your mp3 player and has no DRM features. The ipod that plays more formats than the competitors and is priced competitively.

oh wait... im a Cowon Product

Excuse me my mistake...

Mmm.. the cowon d2 and a2 are nice. I like the SD card support on the d2. But no wifi and no www browser.

It IS kinda ironic that Apple has become the Microsoft/Walmart/Amazon of digital music/media. I've been used to Apple being the underdog. It's funny watching all the hysteric Apple bashers emerge to make asinine jerks of themselves (not you Catullus... you should see all the Mac haters on my Facebook Apple/Mac groups...they join the group just to write flame posts...)

Generally I'm pleased with anything that makes me think of a cow on top of something... I like the Horizon Dairy milk cartons with the cow on them, too.

yes but you can drag and drop mp3s and other formats right into the cowon product in any computer that recognizes usb drives. So basically no lame itunes or drm necessary, that to me is the biggest draw :P

As well as the fact it has great sound quality and plays more formats than most mp3 players.

wifi and internet are all well and good but I have free internet with my cell and many other people have other devices that do that whether its a laptop or blackberry etc so its not really a function that is necessarily needed in an mp3 player.
