In the meantime, both Le Deuxieme Souffle and Melville's Le Doulos (1962) have been reissued by Criterion -- thank goodness!

But how about some of these others?
The Innocent (L'Innocente) - by Luchino Visconti - with ENGLISH subtitles (Import)
The Ipcress File (Import)
Nazarin - Bunuel
Senso (1954, Luchino Visconti) [Import , All Regions] (this is a new Korean release, less expensive and probably better quality than the Russian version)

John Huston, eh?
Let me throw three more JH films into the ring:
Wise Blood
Freud
The Dead

a few others
Fellini's Casanova
Cassavetes' Husbands
Bunuel's Exterminating Angel and Los Olvidados and Tristana
Jonathan Demme's Fighting Mad and Handle with Care
Milos Forman's Taking Off
Robert Aldrich's Twilight's Last Gleaming
Costa-Gavras' State of Siege
Cronenberg's M Butterfly
Sam Fuller's Underworld USA

and two big wishes:
Tod Browning's London After Midnight
Kubrick's Fear and Desire

Fab suggestions, DL. I had a few of these on my list as well but you gave me a few more ideas, too. Amazing how there are still these films by renowned directors that are for whatever reason not on DVD. Husbands is particularly odd given how pretty much all the other Cassavetes films are now out in Criterion editions.

Btw, I had The Dead on one of my previous MIA DVD lists, hoping it would've arrived by now. Alas. I'll update that one to reflect the pending release of White Dog, at least.

...and I can't believe Wise Blood isn't on DVD. Long before he played Grima Wormtongue, Brad Dourif went all Southern Gothic and played Hazel Motes.

And just like that...
Criterion just announced the release of Bunuel's Exterminating Angel (and Simon of the Desert) in Feb.

"Zotz!" (and other, probably better, William Castle movies come to DVD).

.... and here's the link to queue up Zotz! The other new films in this set are "13 Frightened Girls" (Disc 1) and and the doc "Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story" (Disc 5).

"The Tingler" is supposed to be relatively good.
