RIP, director Peter Yates.

Weird that I'd just watched BULLITT the other night. Much more than just That Movie With That Chase Scene, it holds up overall quite well. Breaking Away is one of my favorite all time films, and Eyewitness is underrated.

Really saddened and shocked by this, but rest in peace journalist/filmmaker Tim Hetherington, who was nominated for an oscar this year for the documentary Restrepo, was killed in warfare in Libya today.

This reminded us that we did a podcast with Hetherington and his film partner on Restrepo, last summer. Good time to revisit it if you missed it. Podcast >>

May he RIP.

RIP Adolfas Mekas, filmmaker, professor, and brother to Jonas Mekas. Haven't seen his work but thankful for all the work he inspired through his tenure at Bard College.

Cliff Osmond, a character actor who appeared in four Billy Wilder films among other movies and a number of television shows including a season or two of Gunsmoke. He also taught acting and wrote a book, Acting Is Living, which is one of the best books I've ever read on how to act. Naturally, as he was a friend of mine, I'm prejudice. RIP, Cliff.
