You oughta put them in the free icons forum. I'd love to see what you've got :-)

If you stare at NLee's icons long enough, your club WILL grow...

Sorry, but sports bra would completely ruin the classic look of this icon.

I wish to thank a fat, furry fairy who lent me a hairy paw (among other things) in the creation of this icon. We went through four iterations to get to its final form. Enjoy.

Why thank you! I went a little Photoshop crazy last week and made a couple of animated icons and a few pics for t-shirts. Now I'm burned out!

Do you think he's running too slow?

Its slow, but I like it. You don't realize its animated, unless you look right at it. Its a cool effect, especially since all the other animated ones have been making my head spin lately.

The strange thing about AFleming's new icon is that the wolf is running at normal speed if you download the GIF file and play it locally. But in my web browser (IE6) it is running slow-motion at 1/10 of the normal speed. Perhaps the number of frames (222) is just too larger.

BTW AFleming, please do something about the file size. I can already hear some poor guy with a 56K modem cursing as he waits two minutes for the 337KB file to finish loading. Come to think about it, that's me at home tonight.

I dunno. What are you using to play it locally? When I play it in Adobe ImageReady its at the same speed as IE and Netscape?

I use IrfanView for Windows (v3.75)to view AFleming's animated GIF off line. It loops at 2-second period. In IE6 it takes about 22 seconds per loop.

By the way, that was beautiful. I forgot to mention thank you earlier. Mouse! Chu Mouse!

Of course, I think I'll keep my icon toned down for the present. Although it is time for a change... and that kung pow one just didn't turn out quite right...

At first I thought it was something wrong with your system, so I checked it out... and you're right. Jeez, that's a big old file you've got there, AFleming! (But it looks just awesome!)

I hope you don't mind, but I played around with it a bit. Photobucket seems to be having problems today so you might not see the results every time you try, but I'll at least tell you how things went.
Original size: 337 KB. Oddly enough, Fireworks says it can export the same file, with no edits, as 220 KB. That puts estimated download time at 35 seconds with a 56k connection.
AFlemingv101: Took out all the duplicate frames; moves faster (fixed in later versions) but is still smooth. 157 KB, est. 25 second download.
AFlemingv102: Deleted every other frame. Not quite as smooth, and it's even faster, but we're down to 94 KB and a 15 second download.
AFlemingv103: Added a 1/10 second frame delay. It's not quite as slow as the original, but if I make it that slow it looks choppy. Still 94 KB, 15 seconds.
AFlemingv104: Optimization! The great thing about anime icons is the limited number of colors; this particular icon went from 256 colors to 16 colors with pretty limited loss. 33.5 KB, 5 seconds to download. Still kind of big compared to what I thought were GC standards, but teeny tiny compared to the original!

Sorry, guess I over did it! I didn't think my computer was that top-of-the-line and I run it fine. Plus I have a cable modem. Actually, I did downsize it A LOT from the original. He's supposed to be running really slow like that. My husband suggested I speed it up, but I thought that might get annoying. After a few days, I began to wonder if it was annoyingly slow, heehee. I will play around with it and try to downsize it a little. I had considered cutting out all the repeat frames (actually, I started doing this before a wave of apathy came over me). Since jross3 has already done this, maybe I'll just play around with his version.

It will probably be a week or so before it gets changed. I'll try to get a smaller one submitted tonight, though!

Okay, this is me at home. When I went to your profile page, it took exactly two minutes for your icon to finish loading. I only get about 2.5KByte/sec in download with my dog-slow (or is it "wolf-slow"?) AOL connection.

You biggest mistake is to have zero delay between frames, so the playback speed is only limited by the speed of your CPU and browser's refresh-rate. That means non-uniform playback speed across different platforms. Just add a small delay such as 0.1 second between frmes, and you can throw away 75% of the frames and still get perfectly smooth animation. Just remember that most animes are drawn at 12 frames per second!

If wolves ran that slow, AFleming, my run-ins with them would go a lot quicker. ;)

(Perhaps I should try ether on them -- when they are confined in tight spots...)
