I recently got the invitation to join Google's Gmail (the one with one gigabyte of free storage). I'm quite happy with it so far.... but there is a fly in my soup, in a way.
I'm signed up to get the GC Dispatch (as you should be!), and I've always enjoyed its colorful HTML. But Gmail ignores the HTML, or so it seems. It shows in plain text - and it's not that Gmail doesn't handle HTML mail (it does; Amazon.com, Netflix, and others can send me HTML mail), and it's not that Gmail isnt processing the HTML (there are no plain-text tags, I mean). And now that I think of it, GC's Sending/recieving messages are also in plain text. If Gmail is parsing GC's HTML, why is it only GreenCine?
GC support has been somewhat less than helpful so far....

"Greetings from GreenCine:
You should check your settings on you gmail account.

(what a concept, maybe I should try that....)
Does this mean that he didn't believe me? Well, Scott, here's proof that it's not my account settings:
The GC Dispatch
A Netflix shipping alert
I was a little rude with my reply to Scott, and I'm (a little) sorry. I thought I'd open this problem up in hopes that the wisdom of the community could assist me.
Are there any GMail users around? Has anyone had this same problem somewhere else? More importantly, is there a solution?

Hi Jross3,

We switched all Gmail accounts into text only version because we previously thought that Gmail cannot handle HTML versions of emails. We just figured out that Gmail can indeed handle this so we're going to revert back to giving all GMail account users the HTML version of the newsletter. Unfortunately this cannot happen soon, but we will revert it back in a few weeks.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Giselle G.

ahh, thanks. It happens that I just got an e-mail from Scott to that effect as well. That went a little quicker than I'd expected, it seems....

I'm a little disappointed... NF will let you have up to 500 in your queue, and you had only 70? :)

I'm there out of necessity.... I'm not enjoying it.
(besides, GC's queue is supposed to be unlimited, but I only have 150 or so in there....)

Yay, indeed! It took us a few workaround before we figured out how to make it work with GMail. We initially thought Gmail not able to handle HTML emails but found out this isn't true. (Annoyingly, GMail also tries to override the style sheet we've designed for the Dispatch, which we're still trying to work around...) But anyway we solved most of the problem and Gmail clients will now receive HTML versions of our confirmation emails and newsletter.

Huzzah!
