Does anyone here use the Internet Movie Database (IMDb)? I use it all the time. Today they changed their interface, and its awful - truly truly awful. They didn't just change a few things; it is a complete overhaul! There was nothing wrong with the old interface. Does anyone remember when Coke replaced the old Coke with New Coke?
P.S. Greencine, please be very careful when you change your interface. The interface that's been here for years is great, and your users know how to navigate. No one complains about this interface. Take note.

| I haven't had time to check it out very much, but what don't you like about it? The navigation seems pretty much the same. |

I see you haven't been here very long... A lot of people who had complaints about the interface here got impatient and left already. |

It's a good precautionary tale, I suppose. And a lot of people have voiced opinions, concerns and suggestions about/for the GreenCine interface. Some of those concerns have been addressed, some haven't but will. (This includes these boards, which are very Web 1.0 and will soon be upgraded to join the 21st C.) We're making our content more findable, adding tags and categories, as well as giving the whole content area of the site more of a community feel. We'll be adding to that as we go along, then the boards, then tweaking... We're always open to suggestions. Can't always implement them but we listen!
I don't think the IMdB looks that bad now, though there are a few things I would've done differently. A few sections on each movie's page are now harder to see, not easier... But overall I don't think it's that bad. What don't you like about it? |

Funny almost. The coke reference. Not trying to hate, but changing coke to new coke was crap but that is cause the original coke was perfect (although i prefer pepsi) Online websites are under constant change cause of new web designers, new programs and new fresh ideas. I don't mind the new IMDB, just like I don't mind the bits of the new Greencine, that have popped up. It's refreshing. Keep coming with the community ideas. I'd rather spend time on here posting with people who have seen a movie that was made before 1999, than trying to discuss a Kurosawa movie with a kid who things Michael Bay is a genius. |

Hmmm... it's starting to look more like GrayCine...

I came in one night and the green clouds were gone -- it was solid green, of the sort you might see in the middle of March. A bit too plasticy for me.
BTW I know you were joking, but the URL I gave is a real pointer to the old format, in case you didn't try it. |

| I just saw the changes today. One thing I like is that you can see what your rating is on the main title page. I used to have to dig through 'My Movies' or 'Vote history' to get that information. |

That's only showing up on some movies for me. Also, some movies let me vote on the combined page, but for others I still have to go to the vote page.
Worse yet, the new layout broke my greasemonkey plugin, so I can't click the little gc icon and have it automatically look up that movie at gc, anymore.
Speaking of icons, Craig, the faveicon.ico is missing from the website right now, or something. |

Ok, it's now a darker green at the top, and some lighter green at the bottom. Like that old 70s sweatshirt your parents have in their closet, that you wish would fit you. :) That is to say, more comfy and nice.
All it needs now is some maybe chocolatey accents, and those little asterisks with balls at the end of the points. Heh. Or not. |
