Are you ready for Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus?

This looks so bad it will be awesome:

Mega-Skark vs. Giant Octopus trailer

Which had the bigger budget? Star salary or monster effects? Hard to tell!

You mean that more people will watch YouTube parodies of the film than the film itself?

Has anybody seen Big Man Japan? Is it any good?

I don't know, but I hope Greencine snaps it up!

Here's the trailer.

My scorecard for Magnet's Sixshooter film series:

Let The Right One In: big thumbs up
Timecrimes: thumbs up
Donkey Punch: thumbs down
Special: haven't seen it
Eden Log: haven't seen it
Big Man Japan: haven't seen it

Yeah, I loved Timecrimes as well, good fun. haven't seen any others except Let The Right One In which I also liked but was annoyed about the inferior subtitles.

I remember reading the DVD distributor addressed this after an internet outcry so hopefully we'll get a new release with the theatrical subtitles.

I mean what were they thinking? Geez.

The internet is crazy about Mega-Shark! Surely they'll have to do a sequel. Let's pitch some outlandish ideas to the producers for the next go-around, shall we?

Mutant Koala vs. Giant Wallaby, in which Lorenzo Lamas rides Renegade-style in his motorcycle across Australia trying to stop the environmental devastation these two power grazers have wrought upon the land down under.

Giant Polar Bear vs. Mega Walrus, in which Lorenzo Lamas gets the power to throw fire balls out of his hands in order to slow down their trail, while sexy/smart snow bunny/scientist Debbie Gibson resurrects and mutates the Woolly Mammoth who takes down both monsters with ease.

Hah, nice work, weezy.

I'm down for polar bear vs walrus. Could tie a whole global warming sub-theme on to that one for good measure!

I'll get to writing the script...

I had no idea the internet was crazy for Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus when I jokingly posted about it on the GC New Releases blog.

There's a music discussion board I post/lurk on regularly and a troll had posted something like "Hanson, Menudo, Debbie Gibson, where are they now? One hit wonders..."etc. so I decided to look up what they were doing (all still going btw) to basically say "they have music careers, what about you?". Debbie Gibson had posted about the Mega Shark movie on her web site/blog or whatever it was. The DVD cover alone sold me. Then a few days later suddenly it starts showing up in my Facebook friends' postings... then news feed web sites, weird...

Maybe the sequel could be "Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus On A Plane!"

I think the shark jumps out of the ocean and bites a passing plane in this one, so we're almost there!

How about Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus, IIIN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!! It should end with both of them getting sucked into a black hole where they are then transported to the "dawn of man" primate-land in 2001 Space Odyssey. There they evolve rapidly from their life in the ocean, gain the ability to survive on land, eat all the primates and form a race of super-sharks and super-octopuses, forever at war with one another.

I'm already seeing a sequel: armies of robot mega-sharks and robot giant octopuses, a sea of carnage, and a pretty middle aged former pop star who holds the secret to humanity's survival (it's "love", of course! Just kidding, it's an army of "electric youth")!

lol :D

Here's another wacky lookin' creature feature:

Monster X Strikes Back: Attack of the G8 Summit!

And speaking of wacky, we've just added an entry for Big Man Japan, releasing to DVD on July 28, 2009.

Ok so we all liked mega-shark, but will we love PSYCHO SHARK?!

The internet's a buzzin' over this one coming out in Oct - Psycho Shark! Formerly known as "Jaws in Japan", changed in order to avoid any copyright issues in the US.

I love the screenshots of terrible CGI captured here. This looks like it's going to be pretty terribly awesome.

What about Sharktopus?! It even has its own "catchy" theme song! Oh, SyFy, what shameless killer critter movie will you stoop to, er, think of next?
