Alrighty, I just finished watching Gankutsuou Ep. 13! What a stupendously excellent episode! A lot of time with Haydee, my favorite character, including a flashback to her first encounter with The Count. An amazingly brilliant virtual reality cyberspace sequence! And to top things off, one helluva cliff hanger ending! All the while the 3 principals who are the targets of The Count's "attention" spiral ever closer to the edge of disaster!

I just saw Air. It's pretty funny and extremely well drawn. If you love great opening and ending music, check this one out. Also if you know something about the plot please let me know. Only two episodes have been released so far and I'm intruiged to see where this one goes.

There's not a lot of plot info out, even on the official Japanese homepage... this show just started.

Go HERE and follow the More Info links to read about what is known about the show.

Go HERE and you can grab the brand spanking new torrent for Air Episode 3 subbed by Koi.

Arigato Hamano-senpei! I'm getting a new series called Starship Operators right now, I'll let you all know how it is tomorrow. Bleach ep. 15 is up now too for those that did not know. Ciao!

Yes! This is my favorite anime coming out right now. The best ep so far to me was ep 12 about Albert and Eugenie. SO sweet! I'm kinda scared about how all this is going to end! So I broke down and bought the book, but since I'm pretty busy, I'm hoping I won't finish it until the series is over. Heehee. I'll just have to read r-e-a-l slow. Gah...

There are several new shows coming out. I recently checked out Air. It's pretty strange so far, but I've only seen ep 1. It's kinda a harem comedy I think.

Peach Girl has one ep out. Anyone who likes shoujo animes like "Boys Over Flowers" you should definitely check it out.

Last is Mahou Sensei Negima. It's an ecchi comedy in the harem style. The first two eps were pretty ok. Not as funny as say the Tenchi OVA, but it had it's moments.

I've just finished the 3rd ep of Air. It's pretty interesting. The animation style keeps making me think that jiggly boobs and panty shots will pop out at any time, but it's not that kinda show.

The story revolves around a drifter, Yukito, who wonders into town and makes friends with an eccentric girl, Misuzu. Yukito uses magic to create "puppet shows" to make money while he travels, continuing the search for a girl with wings who lives "on the other side of the clouds" for his deceased mother. Misuzu's mother allows Yukito to stay with them while he is in town in exchange for watching after the absent-minded Misuzu. During his time there, he befriends several other eccentric girls and a "talking" dog, Potato.

It's pretty interesting so far anyway. The character- Potato- is great. Those of you who don't mind slow-moving anime with weird plots (kinda reminds me of "Windy Tales" actually) should check it out.

I'm watching AIR, too... mostly because the boke girl Misuzu's mom's voice is Aya Hisakawa, one of my favorite voice actresses. Pretty good so far, but it feels strangely like one of those RPGs. I'm wondering if it's based on a game, but I didn't see anything in the links I posted above (see post #203) that says it was.

I'm not sure where this is going, but since Grenadier is finished, I guess I'll watch this for a while...

For Potato fans.

From the Air entry at AniDB.net:

"Based on the Dreamcast/PC/PS2 adventure game Air."

Okay, so I gave Beck the benefit of the doubt and continued on up to the current episode, and now I'm starting to like it. They finally got away from all the bad English, and a story is actually starting to take shape. Koyuki and the "American" chick are both getting more likable.

I spent the whole day studying and doing my Accounting I homework instead of watching anime. Tomorrow I have to do my Japanese homework instead of watching anime. What's wrong with me?

Hamano, you meanie! I clicked that link thinking I'd find something I'd like to cut up and stew, and it was a cute puppy! But I don't want to cut up and stew a cute puppy, even if they call it "potato". What an awful name to give a cute puppy! It's even worse than "Menchi", because "Potato" in just an ingredient, and that gets your imagination going about what sort of dishes you'd make with the poor cute puppy!
Besides, he's mostly head. I have no use for that.

Not exactly NEW new, but my 9 yr old daughter, 3 yr old son and I just marathoned this series over the weekend. We all enjoyed it quite a bit. It's the current TV incarnation of Osamu Tezuka's Black Jack. I was a big fan of this manga when I was a teen... It was probably my favorite Tezuka manga series. Over the years there have been several live action and anime versions of the comics, most of them concentrating on the dark side of this outwardly misanthropic unlicensed master surgeon.

I think Black Jack TV, and the four-part Specials that preceded it are the closest they've ever gotten to the spirit of the original manga. Dr. Black Jack is a sentimental humanist at heart, and has a pretty good sense of humor... that side of him shows through in the current series. In fact some of the stories are very familiar to me even after all these years... they were adapted directly from the manga. All of the character designs are also based on the original manga, so there is no graphic dissonance like the one in the Dezaki-directed Black Jack Movie and OAV series that I'm sure some of you are familiar with.

And this time, BJ's sidekick Pinoko is well done.... cute as a button. She was the first moe heroine, probably... An 18 year old maiden in a 3 year old body (if my memory serves me right, she was a fully formed telepathic teratoma or dermoid cyst that Black Jack removed from an 18 year old patient, or a twin that formed and grew inside her body) she fancies herself BJ's "wife" or "fiancee" although he usually treats her like a kid. Usually she's just comic relief, but in fact in the original manga she was at the center of several very moving stories... I remember one where she gets sick, and she believes she is dying... Pinoko asks BJ to make her an adult body, so she can die as a woman - of course he saves her and leaves in her toddler body!

Pinoko as an anime character can still be a little grating, but it was hilarious watching my son re-enact all of her exclamations and facial expressions, including her trademark Atchonburike!

Some of the more PG aspects of the manga seem to have been left out of this show, so this is a good anime to watch with your kids. The producers have woven in some cameo appearances by Tezuka characters from other manga series, like a white lion cub (here the cub is called Luna Luna instead of Leo) and Sharaku, the bandaged bald kid from There Goes Three Eyes.

The medical aspects of the show are pretty outrageous, not to mention almost 30 years out-of-date, but not really essential to enjoying the show.

This is MUCH better than the recent TV update of Astro Boy or the movie misfire Metropolis... I recommend you give it a try, especially if you like watching anime with your kids!

These two pretty LADIES (they're 34 years old!) are a comedy/singing duo calling themselves "othello" who seem to make appearances on variety shows and such as a team as well as individually. They're singing about this "cake-like" new Pocky called Decoration in really bad phonetic French and mugging for the camera.

Here's one of them playing Cleopatra in an instant noodle commercial for Kenmin Foods. Click on one of the orange rectangles, depending on what quality/resolution you can handle.

Here's a page for their lunchtime talk/entertainment show, Kininaru Othello. It's actually a talk/variety/quiz show? On Asahi TV Network.

Here's their homepage at their agency office. Can you make out their height, weight and three sizes in the Profile? Even their shoe and head sizes are listed!

Another new anime melodrama series suitable for family viewing.... NHK's baseball show MAJOR is about a 5 year old kid who is in love with baseball. So far, the first 3 episodes have been subbed.

Apparently, soon the story shifts to when the kid is 9 years old and eligible to compete in Little League.

This show is very leisurely establishing the main plot and characters, like a lot of stuff from NHK. There's not much action yet... the first 3 or 4 episodes are gonna be just a prelude to the actual story, I think.

If you liked Princess Nine and you want to see a pretty good straightforward sports show with kids, give this a try.

As I predicted, Nipponsei just put up a .torrent file for it today (it's already tomorrow in Japan...)

there is a torrent for it today ( "Thank You" Bleach ED # 2) today and it's in #NIPPONSEI on Rizon.

I love it too! And Gankutsuou 14 is out today too!

I am enjoying Peach Girl too, I have to go out and get the manga now!

I am also thrilled that Samurai Champloo has begun to air again!

It's been a good few days in the world of anime for me :)

Snagged it. I really like the other song packaged with it as well. They remind me of a male version of Minmi. Even the guitar sound is similar.

I'd love to hear Minmi and Home Made perform together.

Gilneas, I play as the horde, its a non-pvp server but then I prefer to play the game without the griefers. Still quite a bit of pvp action goes on, gave up on my pvp server character.
